Volume Sixty-Six

If Allen Doyle can win the Senior Open with that swing, why can’t I break par?!

Fresh from a nice little Fourth of July break, Hittin’ the Links is back and ready to go. This week features the intoxicating smile of Brittany Linicome, Pink Paula Creamer, a severe Tiger Woods hater, Trevor Immelman, and much, much more.

Enjoy!

Hole 1: Headcovers are Important!
Recently, there’s been a lot of talk about how headcovers aren’t important with today’s titanium drivers and metal hosels. However, I love my headcovers. I don’t care if they’re “useless” or “unnecessary”. I use them because they look cool, and if I didn’t, I’d look like a complete hack. The man over at Grouchy Golf agrees with me. [Link]

Hole 2: Congrats, Immelman
Trevor’s victory yesterday marks an important point in the young South African’s life. He’s been playing some of the most consistently superb golf on tour the last couple weeks and yesterday was just a culmination of all those efforts. Good work, Trev. [Link]

Hole 3: Tiger Hater
Alright, this link is from last year, but it’s remarkable nonetheless. I’ve never read anything about Tiger with as much anger or jealousy in it as this. Sure I’ve read (and written) things about Phil like this, but never Tiger! [Link]

Hole 4: Pink Paula
Did anyone watch the HSBC Women’s Match Play Championship? Paula Creamer played with a bum left wrist and still fared pretty well. She also managed to wear some more of her signature pink clothing. [Link]

Hole 5: Daily Golf Jokes
The thing about golf jokes is that they usually suck. Once in a while you get a gem though, and that’s the sole reason I’m providing this specific link today; because once in a while you get a good one. [Link]

Hole 6: Brittany Lincicome
Hey Brittany, nice playing. You’re only 20, huh. Well I’ll be 19 in November. Just gimme a call some time if you want to hang out. Dreams aside, Brittany played some great golf this week and was a pleasure to watch. [Link]

Hole 7: Can Monty Bounce Back?
Iain Carter seems to think so, however, I’m of a slightly different persuasion. Monty is the fragile kind of character that takes these matters very personally. He’s been there before, and he has come back and that is in his favor. [Link]

Hole 8: Technique Isn’t Everything
Allen Doyle proved that this week using his unconventional swing. I try to keep these sort of things in mind when my swing frustrates me. Congratulations Allen, on a superb victory. [Link]

Hole 9: Stroke It Lucky
This game is awesome! Well, maybe not awesome, it isn’t Tiger Woods PGA Tour, but its at least a nice little time-killer. Worth a look at to be certain.[Link]

  1. Hey, Jeff… thanks for the link and thoughts on Allen Doyle. He is the man and proves that the swing you find yourself (like Furyk, huh?) is the best.

But it sure is scary to watch him putt with that flatstick that’s sooo flat!
