Volume Sixty-Two

Another hodgepodge of links for your enjoyment!

As always, this week’s Hittin’ The Links is a cornucopia of random links. From outing formats, to Michelle Wie’s Sectional results, to a golf glossary, to my hideous golfers tan, this week’s Hittin’ The Links covers it all.

Enjoy the read, and next time you golf, see how many times you can take zero putts on a hole, Don!

Hole 1: A Golfer’s Dream
I know this is my dream at least: my own backyard putting green. Somewhere I can polish up my stroke and chipping prowess. Too bad I don’t have enough real estate for this sort of green, but a boy can dream can’t he? [Link]

Hole 2: Holding Back Wie
I’ve been googling Michelle Wie a lot lately and I ran across this older article. It has an interesting perspective and I found it to be an enjoyable read. We’ll see today if Wie can qualify for the U.S. Open. [Link]

Hole 3: Sectional Qualifying
Speaking of U.S. Open qualifiers, here is the link to the results page for all the Sectional qualifiers. Check back to this page later today to see if Michelle made it, although you might not need to if she does because the news will surely be all over. [Link]

Hole 4: Golf Terms
Wikipedia is one of my favorite online resources, the countless entries it has on a huge variety of topics is astounding. I found this golf-related entry to be pretty entertaining, thought everyone else would like a look at it. There are a few terms I’ve never ever heard of. [Link]

Hole 5: Golf Tan
While I was googling up links for this week’s Hittin’ The Links, I found myself stymied with no idea what to search for. This was quickly cured as I looked into my mirror and reveled in the horrible transition between my very very dark forearms and my milky-white biceps. The google search for “golfer tan” returned a ton of results, this one was the best. [Link]

Hole 6: Favorite Golf Outing Format
I’ve never played in an outing, but when I was a caddy I looped for a ton of them. Let me tell you one thing about caddying in a scramble: it’s horrible. The round lasts forever. You’ve gotta track down three balls that your group isn’t even going to use. BogeyLounge brings up a good question with this entry, post a comment with your favorite format. [Link]

Hole 7: Will Woods Be Ready?
I find myself worked into a tizzy in anticipation of my favorite major. The U.S. Open is so close I can taste it and I can’t wait to see Tiger again. The thing is though, will he bring his game? You can be certain he hasn’t been sitting on his ass for all this time, but will he be sharp? This article take a look inside this issue. [Link]

Hole 8: U.S. Open
Like I said before, I love wikipedia. Forgive me for posting two links from wikipedia, but this one is equally interesting. It has a ton of information on the U.S. Open including some things I never knew before. Enjoy! [Link]

Hole 9: Winged Foot Golf Club
It’s been nine years since Winged Foot held a major, but you can be sure they’ll put up a good one. Like you already know, I’m kind of worked up about the Open, so I’ve been researching the course a lot. This link is the official Winged Foot website. [Link]
