I just purchased a really good condition 460 R7 after playing my 10.5 Biggest Bertha for what's probably 13 or 14 years. I had a pretty bad fade and hit it really low but now with a 9 degree R7 I hit it much higher and at least 25 to 30 yards further with a very slight fade. I'm a 7 handicap, once a 3 and now hoping to refind that 3 with more hit fairways. Thanks

I purchased my r7 460 draw about two years ago at the suggestion of my pro at San Luis Rey Down Golf in Bonsall CA
My problem was a fade, at first the r7 helped straighten out my ball flight, then as time progressed I have developed draw, sometimes to much draw, now I have to open my club face slightly to keep the ball somewhere near the fairway.

I own a R7 draw driver for around 1 year. It is a very forgiving club for a straight and consistent tee shot. With the snug grip, tension free arms and a wide circle for the entire swing arc, I can consistently place the ball on the fairway (I got a nick name Fairway Joe). As a recreational golfer, I think that direction is more critical than distance. If I hit the ball very hard, I lose control of the direction (slice or hook) as I can't strike the ball at the sweet spot.
what happens when you take out the weight in the driver?
It gets lighter :-)

Logically I think it will be more prone to twist with off-center hits if a toe weight were removed.

I played a Hogan CS-3 DRAW 10.5 for a year.
It was not an offset, instead it used additional heel weighting.
I adjusted to it very quickly...
This year I switched back to a standard Tour Edge Exotics CB Driver. I was amazed at how easy it was to switchback.
BTW I think the year with the Draw Driver actually increased my confidence. Shots were more consistant!
From what I see the R7 draw might be easier to adjust to than the Burner Draw.
Bottomline: I see the draw clubs more as a slice fighter than a true draw club. Another issue might be the loft... Go with the 10.5 or higher loft as it gives the club more air time, which definitely is a benefit. I think a 9 degree might be more prone to hooks.

:?: I am a 16 handicap golfer and would like a new driver, although I am hesitant to buy a draw as opposed to an offset. What is the difference between a draw and offset?
I, too, am afraid I might hit a horrible hook with the draw club. Thanks for your help.

I purchased my r7 draw about two years ago, for the first year I was happy, my fade had been relaced by fairly straight shots, now I have developed a draw/hook. I have tried to adjust my stance etc. Now I wonder if there is a way to adjust the weight in the club head to eliminate the hook and posibily hit the ball straight again.
Please let me know if you have any suggestion on how to correct my new hook.

Thank you for your input.

Purchased the R7 Draw Driver last year thinking I might be able to add a slight draw and greater length to the straight shots I have been getting with a 580 XD. This has not been the case. Unless your slice is more than slight I would not try to correct it with this club. I golf with 2 of my brothers and we have all been using the 580 XD stiff shaft with the same result. Straight and consistently in the 250-265 yard range. We are all in the 55 to 60 age range. I use the R5 series 3, 5 & 7 fairway woods with nice results.

I like this club. The only draw back is that I have to leave the face open when I set up. If I close the face naturally like with a normal driver, it hooks. When I say hook, I mean FORE LEFT! kinda hook.

This driver gets the ball nice and high, although I wish I had a 7 deg. one.

Just beware of the massive hook when you first start out. If you're at a range, try to stay on the right side. If not, you could very well clear a fence and hit cars ect.

This driver really does what it claims to do unlike other golf equipment. Once you learn to hit it, you can hit a nice draw.

I think the Fairway Woods of this type play a lot better. I may have to change back to my original driver.
