Tiger fails to win his own tournament, and everyone else in the field falls apart. K.J. Choi is the lucky winner, taking both Nicklaus' and Woods' tournaments this year. Also, Watson crumbles in the U.S. Senior Open and we talk about playing through, Elin's hospitalization, and and more in this week's episode of Golf Talk.

I have been surprised that there hasn't been more interest in the story concerning Tiger playing while Elin was in the hospital.
Maybe it's because Woods is sort of untouchable, and that highly personal stuff like this is often avoided by editors, but the "water cooler" and "kitchen counter" discussions I've had about his have been decidedly anti-Tiger. Nobody can comprehend how he could have left town with his wife in the hospital. Yeah there was "nothing he could do," but there never is anything the husband can really do. That's generally a big reason why the husbands stick around, because of the fear and uncertainty engendered by the lack of control. Any other dads want to chime in?

I'm not a Phil fan, but I have to take issue with the comment that he doesn't play well in the PGA Championship when Erik mentions "he's never really been around there" prior to when he won at Baltusrol (which you did mention, of course).
However, since 1993 Lefty has 6 top tens, including a 2 in 2001 and a 3 in 1994. In other words, in the last 13 years, half the time Phil's in the top ten, which I would constitute as "being around there"...

I'm a dad, I've already chimed in, and I think further discussion of Tiger's personal life is off-topic for a show called "Golf Talk," which is why we kept discussion of the issue to a minimum in the show itself.
