Well to start off I'm 16 and have really just started getting serious with golf. But since starting at the beginning of summer I've already taken 14 strokes off my handicap and definitely feel capable of getting it even lower. Now the clubs I've started with are all pretty much part of this beginner starter set by Wilson. Since then I bought a TaylorMade Burner and love it. But now I want to look to advance my game more with my irons. So my question is what irons do you think I should be looking at as a higher handicap, although I am willing to make a good investment into a higher end piece of equipment because I feel I'll have them for awhile. I know that there are some new ones coming out now in the off season and prices will drop so what are some good ones that came out last year maybe. Right now I've been looking into the big names like Mizuno, Titleist, and Callaway. Of course any recommendation will be tested at my local pro-shop. I am also willing to spend quite a bit. So any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Check out some of Pings Irons, I recommend the i10's or the g10's
The G's are more for a beginner, a more forgiving club.
The I's are more for a casual player, probably with a mid-low handicap.

I wouldnt say that the G irons are beginners clubs, but they are definately more forgiving.
I recommend going to a local store and hitting as many as you possibly can. See which ones feel the best to you.

If your really serious about the game, and dedicated to getting better then try the Mizuno MP-57s. I have them and I love them. They offer the players look and workability and precision of the MP line yet they still have a good amount of forgiveness with a full cavity. Give em a try.

Just try any mid-handicappers cavity backed irons. And by the way, your handicap is 38, not +38! :-)

Good for you and good luck with the game. Hopefully you can find a good quality store that you can try a number of different irons to see what is comfortable and to discuss with the staff their recommendations. There are quite a few good irons out in the marketplace that would suit you nicely. Mizuno makes a terrific product but can be pricey, taylormade has made some very good irons over the past few years and might be more reasonably priced for used clubs. I would recommend used right now for you - a set of irons that are 2-3 years old in good condition will work well for you.
Lastly if you really want to get better, work 75% of your time on wedges and putting. Nothing will make you a better player than starting at the hole and moving backwards.
good luck.

Taylor Made RAC OS2 are great clubs to learn on. Shaft's were real light in mind, forgiving club head, a ton of offset to prevent a slice...
They were great clubs to learn on, and I've graduated to the Mizuno MP-57's. :-)

Thanks man:-D And I have to say it may be weird but ever since I started chipping and putting which has come easiest to me. I have no problem sticking the ball on the green and 1-2 putting but getting less than 75 yards out is a whole nother story. I have the distance but I am wayyyy lacking in consistency which is why I think forgivability will help.
