View Full Version : Do You Label Your Clubs?

If not, you should!
Here's a site (https://www.pinhighinc.com/pinhighinc/freelabels/design.asp) that I've used a few times for high quality personalized shaft labels.
You get a sheet of (20 I think) labels for $2.50. They call it "free", but you pay for shipping. I've used these labels for years, it's nice to have your sticks (and rangefinder) unobtrusively ID'd. I got a club back once before my round was over, it was in my league and the guy knew me. Believe me they help.
These are really heavy duty weatherproof tags. They have a line of advertising on them, but it is positioned so you can cut it off prior to installation if you want.

On Mine I just have:

REWARD IF FOUND
THANKS!
I don't know is an address is relevant.
That's all.
I have no affiliations with the site, It's just a really good deal.

I've been thinking of labeling them with the loft and lie specs (since they are custom it makes it easier to have them checked/adjusted as needed) and maybe even my yardages.

I get pretty crazy about how my clubs are positioned in my bag so i would be hard pressed to lose one... But i like the idea of the loft and my yardages with them... at least while im getting used to these new irons...

I registered my Callaway irons on their website and they send you free labels for doing it so they should be arriving soon.

Why would you label the yardages? They may change in time and should be easy enough to remember in the head.
I don't label my clubs, but have thought about doing it. Thanks for the tip on the website Mr3Putt, looks good, they are even shipping internationally.

I got a few PM's saying there was no link in the original post. Actually the word "link" was the link.
Anyway, here's the link....

I think labelling with your yardages may be illegal but I'm not sure. I did so when I first took up golf 4 years ago and was told so but I never bothered to look it up. Love the idea of labelling all the other info though.

Mr3putt,
Thanks man. I need to do this and you reminded me of that. Well worth it and I have had a club returned years back that I left on a greenside. I was out of town and the guy called me. I had to drive over an hour, but I would never got that club back had it not been labeled. Cheap insurance.

Thank OP for the link. I just bought an entire new setup of clubs Driver through putter and really needed to get them labeled. What a great website.

Can you ad custom stuff like "This club plays horrible, so I wouldn't keep it if I were you." :-)

Yes, each of my clubs is labeled with name, address, phone. Made them from ordinary Avery peel and stick filing labels made with a MS Word template and printed on my inkjet printer. Then I wrap a layer of scotch tape around that to protect from weather. However, they do smear or get worn more readily than I want, so I am going to try the referenced shaft label site, and thanks to the OP for that. I have had clubs returned twice when I left one on the course, so it is worth doing. Besides, when a fellow player notices the label, he thinks you are smart ;-)

Dave Pelz recommends it in his Short Game bible, he states that it is perfectly legal.

At the link quoted above, the labels cost $9.95. At this link, https://www.pinhighinc.com/pinhighinc/freelabels/design.asp the same labels cost $2.50.
Same site, same labels, different price.

Perfectly legal. I have my yardages labeled on the underside of my wedges.

I am pretty anal about how my clubs go in my bag too. They all have a spot(I chose my bag based on this) and I inventory them at least every 9, sometimes after a hole. I have only ever misplaced one club and I had accidentally placed it in my friends bag. In my defense, that was the first round I had played with my new bag and the bag he was using was my old one!

Thank you for the link. They seem to be happy to post to the UK for $2.50 total cost. It's really too cheap to not take advantage of. I've never labeled my clubs before, but I've just put together my dream set in a bid to improve, so I see this is an extra level of security that makes it more likely to have a lost club returned.
I've just gone for name, address, and phone number. I can keep a separate list of how my clubs are setup (shaft, loft, lie - and resulting distance in flat, calm, conditions), and I consider the big number the manufacturer has stamped near the toe of the club a better aid to club selection. ;-)
Anyway, thank you very much for the heads up. It was appreciated.

+1 i like this idea, the yardages are probably more relevant for the wedges where you can put in the Pelz 7.30, 9.00 and 10.30 back swing yardages...

After reading about the shaft labels from pinhigh here on this forum, I bought a set from them and have now applied them to my clubs. Of course I had to first remove the old paper/scotch tape labels first, which was a fingernail and solvent job. The new ones look much nicer and more professional, and hopefully will last much longer without smearing from the rain or fading from the sun. Thanks to those who posted the pinhigh references.

Here I go resurrecting another old post, but I like this one a bunch! I tend to label Everything - drives my wife Nuts!! My tool of choice - the Casio KL-100 Label Printer! Prints very nice 1 and 2-line labels, so it works well for marking my clubs with name and phone number.

Adams Golf will send you labels for free if you sign up your email address with their website. I put their shaft labels on my woods (because they are all Adams), but not my irons or wedges - the clubs that most need shaft labels.
It would be nice if each company ran a promo offer like Adams...
I'm not holding my breath.

Perfectly legal. I have my yardages labeled on the underside of my wedges.
A friend of mine labels all his wedges with three numbers, which are the yardages for his 50, 80 and 100% shots with that particular wedge. Only works if you have consistent (and controllable) swing power though!

I've been thinking of labeling them with the loft and lie specs (since they are custom it makes it easier to have them checked/adjusted as needed) and maybe even my yardages.
What you might do is take an index card, put your wedge/partial wedge yardages on one side, your iron specs on the other, laminate it, and clip it to your golf bag. Also, this super card might intimidate your opponents. (Hey, it could happen...)
