Just a FYI the balls are not black in color that are being sold to the public. The NIKE ONE BLACK and the NIKE ONE GOLD are white colored balls. Y'all knew that right?
On the sports radio station that I listen to the TEEBOX hosts were talking about playing with a black ball. So it seems some might not know the true color.
Nike has a great marketing ploy by having Nike using Tour Pros using the NIKE ONE BLACK, colored black, on the 16th at the FBR Open.
However, how many consumers will be wanting black balls? Seems like a lot are talking about it giving a black ball a try.

Actually, Nike plans to make colored balls available, one per box. We wrote about it here (http://thesandtrap.com/archives/balls/black_balls.golf) and followed up here (http://thesandtrap.com/archives/balls/black_balls_followup.golf).
Incidentally, during the telecast on USA yesterday, they mentioned that Nike was trying to get USGA approval for their GOLD line in the gold color. After all, not every Nike PGA Tour pro plays the BLACK. Some play GOLD.
The announcers also said it's tough to see in the air. I'm not so sure about that one...
I've got a picture, too. If anyone has a better one, by all means send it to me for use in later TST stories. I know there were some good shots of it in USA's coverage.

It is rumored to place one black colored ball in a box. You would be surprised how many think they can go buy a dozen black colored Nike One Black balls, right now. That was my main point.
Chicago Tribune wrote a blurp about it today. Not sure if the link will work or if you will have to register to view it. Title is "Expect this development to be black-balled" ending with "Thankfully, this isn't the start of a new trend."

Although I would think they would have to do as you reported as rumor to become fact to keep the buzz going about black balls to sell more. Buying a full dozen rather than a sleeve to get the black one. We will see. :-)
