taylormade r7's. i am totally new to golf and these things hit STRAIGHT!! probably not great for workability but I won't be trying that for a while anyway.. my goal is smooooth and straight.. haha.. I am absolutely happy with my purchase.. B-)
For better workability, I would recommend the TP version. That would go for other Taylor made models as well.

I play old :titleist: DCI 962 2i-PW. Amazing feel but not too unforgiving, low offset (I fight a hook rather than a slice), rather thin top lines and fairly traditional lofts (19°-48°) make these clubs fit my eye perfectly. They're starting to get a bit worn, that's all.

Are they the regular R7's or draws? If so do you like them?? I want to try out the new Burner XD's but havent heard a lot about them yet.

I'm playing R7XD's with stiff steal shafts, and I like them alot.. I also just bought a set of forged hogans, that after I regrip will start trying them out on the range. Wouldn't mind having a set of Titleists or Mizuno forged irons.

This year I tried 4 sets of irons and it was ridiculous after going through the Titleist 755, 735cm, 695cb lineups I finally settled back on a set of Callaway X-18 pro series. I wanted to like the Titleist offerings because they look so darn good but the Callaways do my 17hc much more good.

Mizuno mp-37s, played them for a couple years. Love them, but I don't get to play as often as I use to and they are starting to wear. I am thinking of getting the mp-60s. But I just saw the article on the mp-57s, which look nice too.

Seeing you are using MP60 with S flex i would assume you to be a 8 to scratch golfer . At 18 handi You might have a overpowering set of irons that does not blend with your game . Try the Cobra FP series irons in R flex and see what majic it brings to your game .

I made the switch to the Ping G5's when they came out.....I absolutely love them.
The only complaint I would have is the fact that they do have a built in "high launch" that can make hitting a low "stinger" pretty difficult.

Switched from Ping G2's to the new i10's about a month ago. I love them. Lower ball flight than the G2's, less offset and they still have some forgiveness to them. At the same time I got a Ping Tour W lob wedge which is great; has a great face and grooves that put a ton of spin on the ball.

Currently have Dimension Z, Z2 irons in the bag. I've been happy with them, but they're a few years old and I'm thinking strongly about new irons this spring. On the list to try are:
Mizuno (mp57, mx25)

Adams Idea Pro forged = possibly the most beautiful players iron ever made that is not a blade / muscleback. It has a wonderfully thin topline, minimal offset, and a non-glare satin finish. Feels like butter (on solid hit), goes whichever way it's told, and lets you know how well you struck the ball. Also, can't beat the Black Gold shafts... feel better than rifle in my opinion, and look better.

Bill Weiting is the fellow from www.conquestgolf.com that makes my clubs for me. My irons are Infinity AW-3 with SK Fiber stiff shaft built to my spec's. I did this originally to help my problems with tennis elbow, but what has happened is irons so well balanced and weighted for me that has it helped my elbows and increased the consistantcy of my ball striking. Last April 1st my index was between3.8 and 4.1, and I put the Infinity's in play. I finished the season with a 1.5 with the only thing different I did all season was to play these irons......bwgolfer

mizuno makes the finest blades. ive hit tm320 and tps and an assortment of titleist but cannot find a better iron than my mp30s . cavity back forged blade for great control. buttery feel, easy to shape and with rifle shafts just the best feeling and looking iron ive hit to date.
take a look at the better single digit players at your club, chances are youll see zunos in the bag.

The new Mizuno MP-67's feel like butter to me. You would swear they are cavity backs. The ball flight seems a little higher than my old MP-37's but I'm gonna re-shaft them and see if that helps.

Cool. Please do let me know once you change it to rifle flighted. I am also a Dynamic Gold person but I am curious about the rifle flighted shafts. I did try with my friend's rifle shaft 6.0 (not flighted) and it really did feel SOFT at impact but I did feel that the balance of the shaft was different from the DG S300. Kind of felt lighter?? if that is the correct description although the weight of the shaft was pretty much at par with the DGs. Anyway please do let me know because I am also planning to make a new purchase of MP60 with rifle flighted as well. Thanks.
I put the Rifle Project X 6.0 in my PING s58's. Absolutely best move I have made in iron shafts IMHO.

I have a set of Cleveland CG4's. They are heavier than most other sets, however I find I hit these clubs better than any others I have tried. WHen purchasing this set, I demoed Nike, Mizuno, Callaway, Ping and of course Cleveland. The bottom line is CG4's fit me, what fits another player is totally up th them. The only way to find out is to find a teaching pro or in some cases a sales person who knows their clubs and can help make recomendations to best fit your needs.

I've used a variety of different sets (mostly hand downs to start) but most recently I have owned Mizuno Tzoids, then KZG ZO Blades and now Ping i10. I was very skeptical about going to a cast club after having forged for so long, but once I hit them and went through Pings fitting process it wasn't much of a decision. Now, I admit they were no where near as soft as the Mizuno MP-57s but I've got no regrets! Great feel, great workability and great forgiveness with the near look of a player's club!

Started playing about 8 years ago Perimeter weighted cavity back irons have been the "way to Go" by most accounts. I tried about 3 or 4 different sets of these TM LCG's, TM 320's, TM SS and then Titlelist 504 cb's. Then while at a demo day last August I tried a new set of Titlelist 695 mb's. Like night and day. straighter shots more distance incredible feel. I have since bought 2 sets of 690 mb's and a set of Mizuno mp 32's on ebay. sorry but the cavity perimeter weighting doesn't work for me.

After being in the golf business for a few years -- I would strongly recommend everyone go to a qualified fitter and do more than hit clubs until you find some that you like.
With some of the investments we are making into equipment, and never ending new technology, if you get irons that fit you new shafts may be all that you need in the future. I looked at the TaylorMade R7 cgb max irons a while back, and while they are great irons the truth be said the lofts have been made markedly stronger. I felt as if I had gained distance (the scourge of the golf game), when in actuality all they have done is change the numbers to the loft.
I then went to a well known fitter with all the proper equipment, and through shaft technology retrieved my swing speed to an acceptable level. I was just about to fall for it and buy a set of clubs that I gave up everything else for, except distance! :-$:-$:-$

I have played many irons and believe there are none better than these. Don't take my word for it. Check out the reviews on golfreview.com - 4.98 out of 5.
These are cavity back forged irons and simply hit long and straight. They have less offset. The fact is there are a lot of good irons out there. However, this iron performs or outperforms every other club out there, and does so at a very reasonable price.

http://valueguide.pga.com/images/Tommy_Armour/Irons/845s_silverscot_med.jpg
But now they're getting too old and I want to replace them. I'm doubting between the Titleist AP2 irons and the Mizuno MP-57. I tend to go for the Mizuno because I seem to have more control with them. For me as well as their direction as there distance is more constant then the AP2.

I am using a mixed ping set G5 for the longer irons. and I5 for the shorter irons, orange dot and rifle 6 shafts, they have the feel of blades, but they are cavities, and nice to look at, IMHO that is, I like them. All my clubs (except the putter) are from Golfsmith. I have built all my clubs for the last 10 years. I think I would go crazy if I wasn't able to tinker with my golf course weapons. I have consistently compared everything in my bag with the brand name "big boys" and have never come away disappointed with Golfsmith products.
My putter is my own design (I have many). I have my own milling machine so I get to put my thoughts and ideas into a physical product. The one currently in my bag is a high MOI mallet with 1/2 degree negative loft with groves on the face similar to Yes and Guerin Rife putters. All my putters are within the rules of golf but have not been sent in to the USGA. So for tournaments I use a store bought blade.

I have 3 sets of clubs that I use with some regularity, but I am now starting to lean toward one more than the others. I have 2 sets of Cleveland irons. I have the TA1's and the TA6's. The TA6's were the first set of irons I bought when I got into the game, and really worked well for me for a while. I also had a set of i3's, Eye 2's, and G2's that I used, but didn't really fall in love with any of those. My third set of irons that I use with regularity are Mizuno T-Zoid True's.
Of the TA1's, TA6's, and True's, I'm beginning to lean toward the True's. I get a little more distance with the TA1's, and I like the feel of the TA1's a little better, but I like the look of the True's at address, I like the ball flight I get with them, and I'm a tad bit more consistent with the True's than the TA1's. All 3 are excellent sets of clubs, but I felt that the forgiveness of the TA6's was hindering my game more than anything by training me to mis-hit the ball because they're so forgiving. I love my blades.

Just took out the Titleist Ap1 irons after 2 weeks and replaced them with the Callaway FT irons. Just liked the feeling better but not the price of $1200 ouch! The FT's actually have more of a players feel with a narrower sole and slightly thinner topline. The AP2 irons would have been a better fit than the AP1's for me.

I use the Nike Slingshot iron currently, but am saving up for the switch to Mizuno MP-32 irons. I want to be able to work the ball more. The Slingshots are so forgiving, that it is nearly impossible to slice the ball. So shaping it is completely out of the question.

Im rocking Nike Sumo Irons
Pros - Straight, Long, High Trajectory
Cons - 0 workability, occasionally chunk shots
There was a time when I played 3-4 times a week and had my handicap around 6, but as time went on I played less and my trusty Hogan Blades had to go. I love these irons as it allows for me to play more sparingly and still shoot well.

I just got a set of MP-32 and cannot be happier with them. I have a set of Ping's that I was using and I cannot be happier with my new purchase. I know that was rough, but that made me appreciate the Mizuno's that much more.

Just ordered my new fitted MP-57 a week ago. Tried different brands, incl. Titleist, TM, Callaway (used the X-Tour before), but the Mizunos served me best. Although full cavity good feedback and soft feel, but with that little extra forgiveness. However, went for a NS Pro stiff shaft. Personally liked to feel more of the head than the shaft itself. Looking forward to hitting them hopefully very soon! ;-)

I switched from Titleist 755's to Bridgestone J36's a few months ago. I'm really surprised more people don't play Bridgestone's, especially with the ability to mix and match your set between blades, CB, and pocket cavities. My club carries them and I was completely hooked after I hit my first 6 iron. If they had a more familiar name in the golfing industry I'm sure more people would play these irons….IMO they are fantastic (plus they come stock with Proj X shafts which is a $200 upgrade for most).

I've had my MP-37's for about 3 seasons now and they are the best forged blade I've ever played. They are relatively easy to work the ball and mishits are not as severe as some of the older forged blades. 25 years ago I had a set of MacGregor MT irons in Highschool that if you mishit them you would lose 20 yards,,,lol.

I have Mizuno's Mp 60 4-7 and Mp 32 8 & 9 with 5.0 PX shafts. I have disassembled them, weighed the heads so they are 6-8 gr apart and spined the shafts. I really like the way they hit now. Becuz Mizuno was so inflexable I'll never buy new Mizuno's again. Love the product, detest the customer service, but thats just me.

This is funny, I just searched an this will be my 3rd post.. shows how messed up I am!
So, let me combine all into this (unless ibuy new irons)
Ok, had 2 sets of irons when I started this season, R7XD's and Old Set of hogan Edge's to try out and mess around with. Then, I sold the Hogan's and rode the R7's till, I had a geniuos idea along with my other idea to re-do my swing, I traded R7's for some Mizzy MP-30's, which were great feel, but I couldn't hit em on the sweet spot very often and it totally ruined my scoring and my game... so I traded them, for the set I have now, which I've been able to hit and I like them alot ALOT, Callaway X-Forged w/ Project X 5.0 shafts. I like them alot!

Titleist 762's for me.
They provide the workability of blade but also with a touch of forgiveness.

Just got my Mizuno MX-25's last month (used on eBay, awesome deal).
So far, they are great - feel great, very responsive with nice feedback. Shots hit just right have a beautiful "thwack" sound (don't hear it enough, however). I went through an Irons fitting at a local golf shop prior to buying, and these were recommended based on that. Great choice, IMHO...

My last two sets have been Tour Edge irons (JMax Bazooka Progressive and Geomax) and I love them. They are forgiving for slices and well made clubs. I was using Pings and King Cobra's prior to Tour Edge. I personally don't like the cosmetics of my irons but they play so well I don't care anymore :-D
