I'd like to get some decent clothing this year. I'm a member of a country club and I'd like to dress like it.

Unfortunately, I don't see much sense in shelling out $85/shirt. Or even $50. What are my options? Where can one find good quality golf shirts at good prices?

I've looked around a little, and it's difficult. I dress pretty traditionally: collared shirt, khaki pants (sometimes shorts). I match my hats to my shirts and wear the same shoes. I can buy Dockers for the pants... it's the shirts that kill me. $50/pop.

I'd like about ten different shirts and am figuring that if I spend $300, that should buy a decent wardrobe. Yes? No? How?

I like the Original Penguin by Munsing Wear (www.originalpenguin.com). It's a litle expensive but I love the quality and fashion.

They also have a sister brand Penguin Grand Slam (www.grand-slam.com) that's very fashionable and cheaper.

Penguin has everything from conservative to pretty wild designs and all the old guys at the course will instantly recognize the brand.

I'm not sure why I'd care what the old guys think... :-) I'm still pretty young myself. I care more what my fiancée thinks!

Penguin clothing doesn't seem too readily available. It'd be nice if they had online shopping, as they're not in too many stores.

You've got to do some hunting to find them, they don't make it too obvious that they've got an online store
Penguin Store (www.penguinclothing.com/)
Also they're at Urban Oufitters (www.urbanoutfitters.com/jump.jsp?itemID=452&itemType=CATEGORY&iMainCat=175&iSubCat=452&sort=0&viewall=All) there are some really good sales if you wait till the end of seasons.

One of our professionals just bought a bunch of Bobby Jones closeouts from either TJ Maxx or Steinmart...can't remember which. Great way to get top quality for low dollar.

Try eBay. I went through a eBay Polo shirt hunt phase about a year ago, picked up about 10 (Ralph Lauren Polo that is) for really good prices. Just look out for fakes, and overly used condition ones.

Jc mentioned Bobby Jones. We get that stuff in our shop. Man, they make really REALLY nice shirts. Nice and classic looking. I get a 40% discount off stuff in the shop, but havve to wait until the stuff is in here for 30 days. By the time the 30 days are up, all the Bobby Jones stuff that fits me is GONE! Bummer!

besides eBay - http://www.tgw.com !
use "GOLFCHANNEL" coupon code at check out for additional 10% - with free shipping - you'll find a lot of good stuff.

I prefer Nike Dri-Fit. TW series is overpriced, but they've decent alternatives.

Thanks! Spent $218 on about seven shirts. One was $53 but another was only $19, so, I'm OK with that. The closeouts, if they have them in your size, are great.

Thanks again.

I like to get Greg Norman shirt it is a big name so it looks great but a lot cheaper then Nike and other companies. But that and Nike TW collection are the only shirts I can buy because I wear small and the other companyies start at medium.
