From the egde of a cornfield -
Been lurking on the forum for awhile and thought I'd throw a little introduction out there.
I've been golfing for several years. Most of those seasons I never got out there as often as I'd like and only played a handful of times, yet I still made progress. This year, after two tournaments rounds where I completely choked and embarassed myself, I re-committed to the game.
Lessons, new driver, new putter, better practice, and a new attitude have helped me make some breakthroughs in the last couple of months, just in time for the season to end *grr*. The handicap in my profile is really a guess. Most of my rounds have been between 79 (Woohoo! Finally) to 85, with most clustered around 82-83. I have shot low 80's before but never on a regular basis.
Next season I plan to play as many tournaments as I can. We have an amateur tour in the area that has 10 or 12 events and most are flighted. There's also the Golf Channel Amateur Tour, which is pricey IMO, but the only options. Maybe with enough pressure experience, I can keep from choking and post a respectable score.
There's some good advice coming through this forum and I look forward to tapping into it.
