By far the most important thing about a driver is to play what you're comfortable with. If you've hit a regular flex your whole life and are accustomed to it, you'll probably struggle a bit at first if you switch the flex. You're sort've in the grey area where your stats would indicate either would work for you. Maybe try a shaft that's rated S but is light in weight with a lower cpm, or a R shaft that's a little heavier with a higher cpm. That way you can get something in the middle. Main thing is go with whats comfortable and works!

Mazza 78,

Advice from the last two golf pros I worked with: If control isn't a problem, go with regular flex. As your swing improves, you will pick up extra yards in distance.

Focus, connect and follow through!

What's in my SunMountain stand bag....

Driver: Callaway Hyper-X Tour 10.5º (Fuji E360 R-flex, 68 grams, midkick, l-mT)
3-Wood: Callaway Hyper-X Tour 15º (Fuji E360 - same as driver)
5-Wood: Slazenger RD 18º (Adila NV-RD 75-Rflex, midkick)
Irons: Callaway X20, 3-PW (Uniflex - 106-121 grams, midkick, lowT)
Wedges: Callaway X20 50º AW (Uniflex) | Callaway X-Forged 56º SW (Wedgeflex)
Putter: Ping Pal
Ball: Slazenger RDS Tour or TopFlite D2Feel

If this is correct would i be regular or stiff shaft??
for your swing speed i would definitely go with a regular flex.
once you start getting in the 100s is when you need to think about a stiff flex

DRIVER: titleist 909d2 8.5 stiff flex
3WOOD: titleist 909f2 13.5 stiff flex
HYBRID: titleist 909h 17 stiff flex
IRONS: titleist ap2 3-pw 6.0 flex
WEDGES: titleist vokey 52.08 & 58.08 wedge flex
PUTTER: scotty cameron circa 62 or studio select newport 2
BALL: titleist pro v1x #5

I agree. One pro told me that even though you may swing mid to high 90s on the monitor when you're nice and fresh, you may not swing that on hole 16. You may not even swing that on hole 1 when you are trying to stay nice and smooth to put the ball in play. If you are somewhere in the middle, go to the softer flex. Or like the other poster mentioned, get a shaft that is somewhere in between.

Last time on the swing monitor with driver in hand I was swinging about 93-94 consistently. However when on the course I think I ease it back a bit, so I went with regular flex, with all of my clubs. My swing mechanics are a lot better now though, I wonder what I swing now...

For what it's worth, I was recently fitted for irons. My swing speed was consistently 80-82 mph. I hit a 7 iron consistently 155-160 yards. It was recommended I go with a stiff shaft 7i-PW; stiff shaft soft-stepped 3i-6i.

Point being; there's a lot more that goes into a shaft recommendation than simply swing speed. Tempo, swing mechanics, ball striking ability all play a role. Best to get custom fitted for this reason, IMHO.
