What skill impresses you most about TOUR players -

out of skills like putting irons driving chipping short game course management driving distance trajectory do you think impresses you most about tour professionals.
I would have to say Trajectory. At the U.S. Open those guys were soo good at controlling their trajectory. The best sound ever in golf is somebody hitting an iron and the ball making that wooshing sound in the air. I love it when guys hit penetrating shots that start out low keep rising and eventually balloon and fall straight down to the target. Is it just me or can only forged blades do this. Its tough for me to start it low with cavity backs such as the eye 2's. |

i love thesandtrap.com-can't keep away! what impresses me more than anything is their consistently brilliant short games and feel around the greens-thats what differentiates a good amateur from a touring professional-thats a fact. Some of the pros on tour literally dog it round from tee to green but their short game never ceases to amaze-JM Olazabal springs to mind. bb |

The consistent accuracy and distance control with irons is amazing. That may not be the biggest difference between pros and amateurs, but it's what impresses me the most. Hitting 70% of greens in regulation is just staggering, and it definitely puts the pros in position for more birdies and two-putt pars.

I would have to say iron distance control, putting and short game touch in general. I love going to a pro golf tournament and just watching those guys go about their business and how deliberate they are. Truly phenomenal.

Their ability to make the golf ball do so many different things, whether it's hook, fade, high, low, stop on a dime, or spin back on command. It never gets old watching these guys.

If you talk to good amateur players they would probably say that putting is the biggest difference.
These guys are just awesome and the greens are lightning fast. |

I agree with the OP. When I went to my first pro tournament the first thing I noticed was how cool the trajectory was.
