Default Bubba Watson Under Pressure - August 13th, 2006

Where's the "choke" smiley when you need it. I mean, come on, a 92-yard drive!!!??? A double-bogey on the par 5 17th?

Gag gag gag.

He also had a 111-yard tee shot on the same hole on Thursday. And I didn't point out that this was with an iron.

Anyway, I'm rooting for Tom Lehman.

He needs to stop changing his game plan. He said that he was going to try to hit a carved hook during his interview, but during his swing they showed he was aimed for a small draw and he made a cut swing.

I'm dissapointed in him.

He's just a kid so I give him a freshman pass. But he'll have to take some notes from Tiger on being a closer for future reference.

Clearly he hasn't "learned how to win!"

yea, he's a big time choker - yet I haven't read even 1/2 of the crap that has been written about Michelle Wie's being unable to close a deal in the final round.
He's a "kid" ? He's almost twice her age. People's unability to be objective always amazes me...

Yeah, that was a pretty bad choke job by Bubba.

BUT, his choke job wasn't nearly as bad as Lehman leaving his eagle putt on 17 in the final round about 4" short, which would have netted him 5 points and the win.

Oh, Bubba's choke was definitely worse than that. He hit two shanks in a row. I like how he admitted the nerves got the best of him in the post-round interview. A lot of golfers tend to say the pressure wasn't getting to them. I liked Bubba's honesty, and I liked how he bounced back to birdie the 18th.

I don't know; I expect Lehman to make that putt, I don't necessarily expect Watson to nut up and put it away like he had the chance to do. Lehman shouldn't miss a putt like that.
