Anyone ever get diagnosed with vertigo? I ended up in the emergency room last week with it and I have not been feeling "right" since then. Could be psychosomatic, who knows. But if you did have it, did your game suffer at all?

I have not, but your post reminded me of Arrested Development.
Now, back to topic...
I had an ear infection once and had a heck of a time playing golf. My balance wasn't off much - I could walk, etc. just fine - but something that requires as much balance as the golf swing was really difficult. After all, missing a golf ball by a quarter inch can have disastrous results.

Yes I have had two bouts of it. The first was caused, like Erics, by an inner ear disturbance caused by an infection. The second was caused by high blood pressure. ( I was spewing several times a day). It can also be caused by medications or high use levels of ibuprofen, asprin, advil etc. The first went away after about 10 days, the second persisted for almost 3 months. Medications didn't help much, like dramamine etc., but it did get better eventually. Playing golf was impossible for me until it was substantially better.

We will see what happens in my golf league tomorrow night then. I still feel very light headed and generally just not with it. But at least it is not the whole room spinning, cold sweats and puking.

Sorry to bring up old thread. But I have experiences with vertigo I can share. I have had vertigo since I was 18. I am 30 this year. There are very tiny calcium crystals inside your inner ear. And when you get an ear infection or head/ear injury, these crystals can dislodge and interupt the inner ear. Some infection is chronic and can be treated with medication. If not an infection, calcium buildup can only be treated with a few excercises. Do a search on Epley maneuver. It has been proven effective up to 80%.
When it is really bad, Dramamine is ok, but the side effects is drowseyness. They do sell a newer, less drowsy version of the drug. You have to balance your meds.
I have adapted a slower tempo, so my head doesn't rotate or whip around at a quick speed. I also do a very un-passive swing where my head stays very still, until the very last moment.
Got it on and off since high school and now i'm 31, it happens less frequent and less severe. But I get dizzy very easily.
