    Drive Starting and Staying right

Ive recently adopted a new driver (superquad) and i love it, as i have never hit drivers before, dont ask why.

But i am hitting them about 270 yards consistently but i seem to start the ball right and it stays right (about 25yards right of intended direction) (im a right hander)

I have checked my lining up to the ball, as well as trying to close the club face a little at address.
What could be some other causes?

For me at the moment is to aim that bit further left and then it'll go straight.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks a lot.

It's most likely your swing path going inside to outside and you aren't rotating your hands at impact. Bring the club straight back and then make your release.

Re: Drive Starting and Staying right

When you hit it, does it go right and then curves even more to the right? If so, then your doing what Spectrums said.

But if If you hit it right and it goes strait right with no curves, that doesn't look to be a slice to me.
I do this too from time to time and it's usually when I bring the club to far inside and swing inside to outside with a square club face in that direction. For me it's a matter of not going so far inside.

One simple thing to try is move the ball further forward in your stance. It'll give you a little more time in your swing to get that clubface closed. Also, having it farther forward promotes more of a draw, which should help fight that push/fade you're experiencing.

what you're describing is a push... I tend to have 2 bad ball flights besides my desired draw.. both have to do with timing.... 1. is when my hands/arms get ahead of my body and I hook it. 2. is when my body outraces my hands/arms and they get left behind which is when i push it. so possibly number 2?

Re: Drive Starting and Staying right

    It's probably an alignment problem.

If you are not used to standing over a driver, the angle at which your eye sees the target and the way your body is actually lined up are not parallel.

Next time you go to make a swing with your driver, line up as you would normally. Now take your driver and place the shaft so it is touching the toes of both your feet. Now step back and see where your club is pointing. If it is pointing to the target you are aimed too far right. Your feet and body should be aiming in a parallel line left of the target because they are left of the ball (for right handers).

Re: Drive Starting and Staying right

I agree with it being an alignment problem. If you consistently hit it straight but right 25 yards, you can simply aim what appears to be slightly left and be down the middle. I wish I had this problem.

If you try to "fix" this with your hands and grip, you may introduce curvature to your ball flight that may be harder to control and less playable.

Re: Drive Starting and Staying right

In addition to the alignment technique above, which is probably one of the best ideas, try to keep your spine angle consistent for as long as possible, ala Justin Rose. This will keep those shoulders on line through impact. Remember to turn your hips on the downswing, post up on your left leg and deliver from inside, right elbow tucked in....(feel weird at first).

Always test on the range first....good luck to ya!

Re: Drive Starting and Staying right

Thanks heaps for all the quick replies.
Im going to take on board all of your tips and head down to the range tomorrow.
Ill try and even get a video or 2 to show you my swing incase i cant seem to fix it.

I have a feeling it could be something to do with how i set up.
The Ball is at my front foot which makes me open up my chest because my right shoulder comes forward so i can stretch to the ball. Rather than keeping my feet, knees, hips and shoulders all in line, my shoulders aim left which opens me up.
Usually i think this would cause slice but since i extend my arms on the follow through it only pushes it right and doesnt get a slice.

Sorry its hard to explain but ill take a video tomorrow and show you what i mean.

    Thanks a lot.
