soultone:   I just got the answer to my post from a golfsmith clubmaker, so I'm happy.  The earlier advice I got was correct.   He said that soft stepping 1 club would drop the playing flex 0.35, in the case of Proj Xs.  That would mean a softstep of 1 club (3i into 4i) of your 6.0s would make them 5.65s.  A 2-club soft step would turn them in to 5.3s.   Have fun!
Thanks! Is that one where you actually "swing" a club, or a controller, or something?  That would definitely sell me!
For me, its easy.  I always play better when I walk and push my bag with my Clicgear. Always.  The shared cart, bounce back and forth across the fairway experience breaks my concentration, but I'm a strange old coot.  I prefer playing by myself at 0630 and being the first dewsweeper. It's magnificent out there!  (And, yes, I do enjoy my friends and my foursome, but I never play as well then. That golf is social.  My solitary golf is for playing well, and improving my...
Help, please.  I'm not a video game junkie, but I am a golf junkie.  I was joking with my teenagers that I might finally allow a video game player in the house, and its good they're young and healthy, or I'd have had multiple heart failures on my hands.  TW Masters 12 here I come, I think.   My question, what is the best "player" for the game -- XBox, PS3, Wii, or whatever (recognize I have no idea what I'm talking about).  I want a golfing experience at Augusta, and...
Easy for me.  MG Golf, surprisingly enough, makes the best glove by my standards. They have a techno- something that I buy frequently.  Good, tight feel, good durability, and great in "moist" weather.  Price is excellent, and I'm a lefty cadet-type, so its good to have a supplier who can give me what I need.
Pentas, because I like the feel. Distance is the same for all the good balls.  Tried the Bridgestone 330-RXs and wanted to like them, but didn't.  Need to give the Srixons a try, though.
I play Pentas, because I like them around the green.  Others tell me the same about their version of ProV1, either because they like more, or less spin.  Where I come from on this topic is to back up and look at it from the 35000 foot level.  Do you really think Phil and Ernie would play Callaway if Titleist were "better".  Do you really think Tiger would play Nike if the others were better. Do we think that Stricker would play Titleist if Bridgestones were a better...
How about Mickelson and Bubba in the final group -- lots of birdies and bogies! After Phil's performance this weekend, he'll be fired up, though the pine straw may not be as kind to him this year. I think it was Nicklaus who said that Augusta favored a leftie with a nice fade (read: hole 11).  There's two of them here, though I think Westwood or Els might finally break through.
DB:   Tell us more about why you switched from the to Mizuno 800s to the burners.  I looked at the Mizunos and thought that they might be the first set of really new, expensive clubs I purchased in years, but I need to demo them.  I have heard nothing but good about the 2.0s, but I am uncomfortable with the thicker top line.  I fall into the typical conundrum of wanting a thin top line club from a look standpoint, but not quite having the game to back it up!    I...
Hey team:   Looking for some technical advice.  I have a set of Proj X 6.0 iron shafts (3-pw).  What would be the relative effect if I double soft-stepped the shafts for my playing partner. (put the 3i into the 5i, 4i into the 6i, etc.)  From a length standpoint that works, and my buddy plays 3 and 4 hybrids anyway.  The advice from a pro fitter said that it would essentially a set of 5.3s  (0.35 for each soft step).  Does that make sense?  I've soft-stepped PXs for...
