Hey guys,   I have been playing golf for over 15 years and never had a lesson. I started playing using the ten finger grip and haven't changed. I feel like my grip may be contributing to some of the problems I have had. Long story short I am going to try to change my grip to an interlocking one. I have played around with it a bit on the range and it always feels very strange to me and I don't hit it well, which I know it to be expected with swing changes.    My question...
I just remind myself to swing nice and smooth and try to make a good pass. Helps that we have a short par 4 on the first. Which also can add pressure to birdie the first as it's one of the easiest holes on the course!
I agree with what a few others have said. Focus on hitting good shots and gaining confidence. You are going to hit a lot of balls poorly as a beginner. Heck, I have been playing for 15+ years and I still hit a lot of bad shots. I would say rather than trying to get to a certain number just try to improve a little each time out. Practice, Practice, Practice!
Already know the person, I will create a golfer in 2014!
