I'm 5'11" and I use a 34" putter. I love it.

I have tried 35" and belly putters and what works for me is 34". I even went to the extent of trying all these sizes with the same putter (TaylorMade Rossa Daytona). I found 34" works perfect for me. But again, I believe you have to have confidence and feel comfortable with ur equipment.

I'm 6' and I use a 35", it works for me. Odessey makes great putters ( I have the White Hot #6), but I just ordered the new Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2.

I must be the odd monkey in the barrel, because I am 6'0" and I like the 33" shaft. I had a 34" and choked down on it before, but the balance didn't feel right to me. I went to a 33" and am happy with the feel now. I almost went with 32.5" and would probably have liked it a little better, but I will stick with what is working for now.

I feel that the shorter shaft lets me bend over further to get my eyes directly over the ball and get a good shoulder rotation with a nice pendulum motion. I can't spend too much time at once on the practice green as my back will ache after about 20-30 minutes, but once out on the course, I don't stay in that position for long so it doesn't bother me during a round.

It depends on your putting stance. If you like to bend a lot then get a 33, but if you like to be more upright get a 35". The 35" will give you a bit more versitility as you can always choke up on it on shorter putts and grip it at the end for long bombs.

I definitely would like to be more upright. I feel I'm way too bent over with my current putter and I think that's part of the reason why I have issues with putting a lot of the time.

35" for sure.

Not necessarily. Lots of tall people use short putters. It depends on your stance.

Read through this thread and you'll see not every tall person has a tall putter and vice versa.

5'9" and 34", but its all about comfort. I know a 6'3" guy who uses a 33" putter and bends over the ball like Jack Nicklaus, but is one of the best putters I know.

I'm 5'11" and use a 35" putter. I use a semi-split grip and place my RH pretty far down my grip.

I need a whole new bag of clubs, but I just sold some old video games and what not on eBay and have a little extra money, so I'm thinking of starting with a putter. I'm really in love with Odyssey, so that's most likely the brand I'll be going with. I'm thinking either the Sabertooth (which I've tried out briefly) or the White Hot #1, which I haven't had a chance to hit yet. I'm obviously going to get in and try out the #1, but has anyone else putted with it before? Did you like it? If the #1 feels as good as the Sabertooth did, I'm going to go with that just because it's cheaper.

Jrode,

I like your idea of starting with the putter if you are building a set as $$ becomes available. Your putter is probably the most important club with respect to personal preference. Definately get into a good pro shop and get someone to fit you for length / lie / grip, etc. Hit as many different styles as you can tolerate and then make your choice. Good luck & enjoy practicing with your new best friend.... I'm 6'5" & stand very upright so I have a 36" Anser putter (standard lie & grip)

35" I choke down about an inch - I'm planning on cutting it down an inch anyway.
I stand pretty tall with my putting stroke however.

My yes is 33.5" which works out fine but I do have to bend over a tad more

Just got a new putter and I'm loving the length.

5'9
34" Ping Karsten C67

It's 1inch longer than my old one but I actually putt better with this one. I think the no offset shaft has more to do with it than the length though.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
