  1. 1. When are golf balls pulled out of the bag?

    • Six holes
      1
    • Nine holes
      1
    • Each round
      9
    • When scuffed
      21
    • Play until it is lost...greater than 18 holes
      43
    • Replace lost ball before the nine is completed
      4
    • Replace lost ball holes 10 -18

Unless it gets cut, keep playing it. I tend to lose balls long, long, loooooooooooooooong before they wear out.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

I'll play it until it is lost. Which can end up being a decent amount of time usually.

If I lose a ball obviously I'm going to play a new one, but I generally don't lose balls that fast. So generally I play a ball until it is too scuffed to use, then it's to the shag bag.

Here's what I play:

Titleist 907 D2 10.5* UST ProForce V2 76-S | Titleist 906F4 18.5* Aldila VS Proto "By You" 80-S | Titleist 585H 21* Aldila VS Proto "By You" 80-S | Titleist ZB 4-PW TTDG S300 | Bob Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can 54.10 | Bob Vokey Spin Milled Oil Can 60.08 | Scotty Cameron Red X5 33" |

When you pay near $50 per dozen, you keep them as long as you can.

i really cant see that cause when you get down to it a ball is a ball maybe some might not feel the same but thats what i think

That's true that a ball is a ball, but some play better than others. I like to use those for as long as I can, get the best mileage that I can out of them. I will look in the woods a little longer for a good ball than a crappy one.

ill give you that..... a pack of $22 a dozen dt carrys have alot more greenside play compared to a $12 a dozen nike....... 1 other reason i say its a waste is cause i bought a sleeve of pro-v1's and after 3 holes it was done i mean gone my vokey wedge just killed it.... compared to a dt carry that last me 3 rounds and still looked new....... but anyways back on topic....... sorry i dont mean to be a jackass about it, its just my cousin does it.... buys a 50.00 dozen of nike platinums and lost alot of them and i was like there goes your green fees for tommorow..... he done that for about another month and finally went to a cheaper ball still played the same

How long before you have to pull a new ball out of the bag and into play?

Could be anywhere from one swing to several rounds. Just depends on whether I hit it where it can be played from, or at least recovered. It's almost a guarantee that if I tee up a new ball anyplace where there is water in play, I'm going to find the water. But I've played 5 or 6 rounds without losing or seriously damaging a ball too, so it's pretty much impossible for me to narrow it down for the poll.

Suffice it to say that I play a ball until it's lost or until it's so beat that I just can't stand to look at it any more.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I don't play pro V1s so for me I start with a new ball every round. I take the old ones and mark the score and the course in small letters and put the ball on a wall rack so I can see my rounds. every 10 rounds I rotate out the old ones to the shag bags....
PS....
I never play found balls.... they screwed the last guy, so why should I trust them. I also never play #4 balls as they represent FORE, OB or worse....lol
I play only 1,2's and 3's.....

I used to go through 15 brand new Topflite balls a week. Now I have been playing the same Pro-V1x for a week.... I haven't lost any balls in a long time. That's one big factor in lowering my score! About time to retire that ball... But I just have such a hard time paying $4 for a stinking golf ball.

I have 9 Top-Flite Gamers left over still... I should put them in play but I don't have as much confidence in them as in the V1x.

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
