I do not really have certain cigars for the course. I usually just open up the humidor and pick out about 4 or 5 to take with me. Some of the one I have enjoyed on the course are Punch Rare Corojo, Padron (many sizes), Hoyo Excalibur 1066 and Hoyo Dark Sumatra, just to name a few.

Personally, I don't like smoking cigars on the course as I never feel like I get the chance to relax and enjoy them. But I prefer Rocky Patel Vintage (90 or 92). Too many people I know have smoked these and swore they would never have anything else again. I also enjoy Fuente Chateau Fuente Maduro and CAO Italia or Brazilia.

I love my cigars. Have a nice humidor, and I keep it stocked. I prefer Padron, Excalibur, and El Rey del Mundo.

Never smoke on the course, though. First, we play early, and I can't do cigars at 6:00 am. Second, I'll go with Ogg. I just don't get the enjoyment I get when I sit down with a nice cigar and a single malt scotch and relax.

I feel a bit left out. I've never puffed a cigar before. Am I missing something - a lot of guys seem to do it?

Although I don't think I'm manly enough to smoke a cigar! :)

That's what get's me up in the morning of a round and keeps me going...Even though we are the first off in the morning, we play at a leisurely pace that allows me to enjoy the cigar. I usually light up on the putting green...

The only other time I smoke a cigar is when I visit my local steakhouse and we light up outside in the patio after dinner...

Don't feel left out. I think it actually takes a while to get some enjoyment out of them. Years ago, I would smoke them just when I was hanging with my buddies, a couple of times a year. A few years back, I had one and really enjoyed it so I picked up some more and realized it was something to enjoy every once in a while. My suggestion to start - get a Romeo & Julieta Cedro #2 or go to a local shop and ask for something mild. Try it and see what you think.

Fisher,

Any preference on the single malt? I have tried a large number, including Macallan 25 year old. I enjoy Dalmore, especially their cigar malt. I found a reasonably priced single malt called Lismore recently and was surprised how good it is. Got a good review online too. But the cigar malt is PERFECT with any type of smoke. I highly suggest it.

Definitely, start out on the mild side. The R&J; is a great choice or try any mild Arturo Fuentes. I didn't think I would enjoy a nice smoke after a hearty dinner, but my friends and I really get a chance to appreciate the quality of the cigar(s) . A good cigar is a good balance (a pickup) to the digestion of a good meal (a downer) and the nice warm kick of a cigar adds to the good time.

Really, anything. If it's first thing in the morning then I usually like something lighter like an AVO or Ashton. Otherwise my humidors are stocked with Punch, Padron, Bahia, Ramon Allones and many more.

Ah! A great subejct!!! For me, on the golf course, a short smoke is a better idea...so the Monte Christo No. 5 is just the right size, lasting only 3 holes max....but the best smoke for me after a round, is the Ramon Allones Special Selection. It's a robusto in size, and draws like an open door. here, we only smoke Cuban.

I like Sancho Panza's - for the money they are superb IMHO, of course cigar taste is as individual as food taste. Also like CAO Camaroon's the Toro in particular.

It took a bit of time for my constitution to enjoy the Series R, but after getting use to the rush it gives I was fine. I'm going by the cigar shop today and I think I might look that stick up...Thanks for the heads up...

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
