4 wedges in the bag -

Beantown Beancounter - Highlands... Nice course!!!

I guess I will go out and get a gap wedge then. They seem to come in handy. It will probably help my game too. Like I said, I carry a sand wedge and a pitching wedge. That's it. I may even look into a lob wedge for next year if I find the gap wedge to be useful.

I you have a game improvement set it is pretty much a necessity, because your PW is probably around 45 deg and most sand wedges are 56.

I have a gap wedge but no lob wedge... at my current skill level I think I would be worse off trying to get cute with a lob wedge than just hitting my sand wedge. I like to just hit the sand wedge anytime I'm inside around 80 yards, I think it helps my consistency and muscle memory by only using one club for touch shots.

no. b/c i don't want to do w/out my 2-iron. I carry Driver 3-W 2-PW

PW is 47 (130ish)
SW is 54 (115)
LW is 60

I try and avoid 50-100 yd shots like the plague though. The SW goes about 115. I typically don't hit the LW full

yea, my wedges go P(48) G(52) S(56) L(60)

Me too, perfect system to my way of thinking. Guess it depends on the player, but it works well for me. I like the lack of significant gaps in my yardage. For example, a smooth and easily repeatable swing might be 9i-135,P-120, G-105, S-90, L-60. This covers a lot of ground (literally). I find my biggest misses when I take a club and ease up on it too much, and especially when I try to over power it for a few more yards. I say let the clubs do the work. For higher handicappers like me, dropping the 3 iron for a gap wedge is a no brainer.

my feel isn't what I would like it to be to not use a 52*. I don't like to even take the chance of doing a half shot with my pw. I can handle takeing a half inch off my grip on either to fill the smaller gap.

I'm actually quite good at hitting a less than full PW because I played without a GW for so long but I've recently put a GW in the bag because I got a new set of irons with a 46 degree PW which meant a 10 degree gap between that and my SW. I mostly use the GW for chipping.

I went from a set with old school lofts (50 degree PW) to a new set with a 46 degree PW, so I added the 50 deg gap wedge (and dropped the 3i).

My SW is 56. Don't use a lob.

I like my 52* wedge because it gives me a nice spacing between my 45* PW and my 60* wedge.
I find the 52* very useful for 100 yard shots and for short chip shots.

I just put one in play, very useful. I took out the 3 iron which I didn't use very often and put in a 19* hybrid to replace the 5 wood.
