After a couple years of strugling with off the shelf clubs I finally got fitted for some equipment and what a difference. First I got the driver done and that made a big enough difference that I decided to get Irons done a few weeks later. No wonder I never had good luck with any of my sets. The final fitting produced the Titleist AP-1 with project x 5.5 shafts .5 inch longer and 4 degrees up. So now I am wondering what to round my bag out with.

My local club I only need a driver and short irons and my 4 hybrid. It's two par 3's, two par 5's and the rest are short par 4's. I got rid of my 3 wood and I only have the 5 wood because it was a dollar when I bought my driver. When I had my 3 wood I out hit it with my 3 hybrid (and straighter). I don't really need any more clubs for my course but when we travell we play some golf at other courses and I would like to be prepared.

So this is the clubs Iam keeping for sure. What would you add to have a nice rounded bag that I could play almost anywhere.

Callaway Ft-iQ driver
Titleist AP-1 6/7/8/9/p/w
Titleist Vokey spin milled 54/58
Odyssey Dual Force II #1

I was thinking maybe a fitted 3 wood and 5 wood then two hybrids to fill the gap between the woods and 6 iron.

I also know I hit hybrids fairly good so maybe a 4 wood and 3 hybrids to round it out?

So from your expierience what would be good clubs too fill out my bag with?

Thanks

Callaway tour fit van came around to the club and they put me on there launch monitor, then when the numbers were right I took it too the range for a few real hits.

I personally like hybrids a little more than hitting woods. Depending if your good with the longer clubs, I would add the 3rd wedge and make the short game better. But again I have no idea how you play.

In my Xtreme Sport bag

F50 15* 3 Wood
Burner 18* 5 Wood

I'd throw in a left-handed club for those trouble shots up against a tree or something like that. My son had one of those shots the other day but he turned a 7-iron upside down and hit it with the toe on a left handed swing.

.....just an idea!

I make that nine definite clubs in your bag - you can carry up to fourteen. If it was me I'd definitely want to fill out the longer distances. I hit a six iron about 170, and a driver about 250 but not off the deck. So there is a massive gap. I'd reconsider a three wood for long off the deck (and also off the tee), and maybe a couple of hybrids (if you like them, I don't) that you can choke down on to get different distances. Hybrids are also better out of the rough than woods (I have extensive experience of this).

You might also wish to consider some wedge madness , if you struggle with your short game. I recognise this might not be anything like sensible, but it does seem to be helping me.

    • Day 14.  Trying to stop that pull hook. This may take a while and I had limited success today. With courses here opening soon I then spent some time practicing short game distances inside 100y.

    • You all are right, its not that big of an issue, I'll leave it alone, especially after looking at that picture of Tigers beat up putter. But I also noticed the small circle worn on the sweet-spot where he hits it every time, I definitely don't have one of those. Thanks for the replies
    • Committing to one brand of ball this year - Snell MTB Prime X, the 5 doz. pack. Like how they perform for me. At $18/doz., can live with cover scuffing. Iron regripping with GolfPrice MCC+4 Teams std. in red/navy. May be retiring Odyssey Dual Force after 30 yrs. Seems like I can't get it to the hole anymore. Kind of light and has lots of toe hang. My reg. group's hounding finally wore me down.    From Callaway preowned - trying out the Odyssey Tri-Hot 5K in double wide (less toe hang) and triple wide (face balanced). Both also noticeably heavier...we shall see.
