I think I've played the worst course in America.

The course I grew up on was a Chicago Park District Course, Columbus Golf Course. It was in a rotten part of the City not far from my hometown of Cicero. We often needed our clubs as weapons in order to walk safely to the course.

At the farthest point from the clubhouse, if you can call a hut a clubhouse, there was a par 3 with a pond betwen the tee and the green. Fairly often, if all the players in a group hit their tee shots on the green, kids would run out of the bushes, steal the balls and then two holes later would try to sell them back to the owners.

No joke. Because of the pond, they could easily get the balls and get off the green. We had to have one person hit, then go stand over on the other side of the pond, with a three iron in hand as a weapon, to keep the rest of the shots safe.

I haven't played there in 20 yeas so I have no idea what condidtion the course is in today. Then it was very short and the fairways looked like my front lawn. The greens were very soft, and VERY slow. Long iron shots often plugged and spinning a short iron off the green was easy.

As bad as it was, I have a fond feeling for the place since it's the first place I ever played and as a kids from a lower middle class background, I could afford the green fees once a week.

The "Executive 9" at White Birch GC in Barnesville Pa.

This site is hilarious; looks like a 4-year-old made it. I love how they underline random words/punctuation marks in the rules.

oh boy do I have one for you tussey mountain State college pa the greens are horrible their green grass is too long, very bumpy. the tee spots are horrible the have rubber tees. the fairways are nice but have alot of bad unhealthy grass but there are no sand traps and the longest hole is 120 yrds

Yea that is a rough one. It's offset though by one of the best. Drive out 322 a few miles and find Freestone. It's not the best because for any reason to do with golf, it's the best because its directly across the street from the strip club. Go play 18 and then tell the girls at The Endzone how it went and they"ll cheer you up.

The bag:

Big Stone Golf Course in Three Lakes, WI. Tee off on (I think it was the 8th) hole, keeping right since the score card shows a dog leg right. Land in perfect position. Get to the ball, and look for the hole, whoops, it's a dog leg LEFT. Tell the lady at the proshop/bar; "Oh...yeah...Forgot to tell you. Whoops."

There's one in Statesboro Georgia (near Savannah) called EagleCreek that is laughable. greens are furry like you wouldn't believe.. oneday they were doing maintenance I suppose and neglected to tell us. Got to hole 2 (par 3) and the "green" was a white spray painted circle about 30 feet in diameter right in the middle of the rough with a flag stabbed into the ground. Not even a hole.. the rough was untrimmed.. just a painted circle with about 2 inch tall grass and a pin stabbed into it. I could've hit the guy at the register for even allowing someone to pay for that.

If it were in good shape it'd actually be a fun course, it's short and driveable, but very narrow in spaces and over water often. it's one of those where you just call any putt within 10 feet good, and everything else a 2 putt and leave your putter at home.

Flat out miserable that day though. $28 too!!

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club? • Day 3- Practiced putting for 20 minutes.
    • Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.
    • 43 (6 over) Couple bogies, couple Pars, a birdie and no doubles. Not bad for first 9 of the year.
    • Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
