Played there three years ago. It was one of the nicest courses I've played.
GPS's in the carts and the fairways and greens were in perfect condition. The best part was the guy we rented our house from was a member of the club so we got his discount.

One of the few courses I haven't played down there. I've heard good things about it but it's just too far from where our house is down there. Be sure to let us know what you thought of the course and if it's worth the 45 minute drive for me.

I've been vacationing at OBX across from the Currituck Club for nearly 10 years now. I've only played it once from the back tees and it's a excellent Rees Jones layout! I've only played it once because it's way over priced unless you can get a deal for it but I've been using thier practice facilities for years and they are excellent!

If you are a lower handicap player and are up for a challenge that is just as difficult, I would suggest playing the Carolina Club from the black tees! A great course and about $90 less than Currituck!

OBX is a awesome place but the golf in general is overpriced,,IMO! This summer for the first time in 10 years we are taking our family vacation to Myrtle Beach instead of OBX! For the price of playing the Currituck Club by myself one single time, My son and I together are going to play 5 great courses in Myrtle Beach!

Expensive...yes. $160 + $50 for rentals. Course was in superb condition (some sod replacement underway, moved tees, etc., but all smartly done). Greens were smooth and consistent. Great layout - lots of choices with fair risk/reward. Nice views which would be breathtaking without the houses. After playing once I got a certificate to play for $120 (or $95 after 12:00) on return. Still expensive, but a lot better than $160! As the only course near the house we rented it was golf there or do a whole lot of driving. I'd say...see how you might be able to get a discount.

I like it and am glad I played it....but am smarting a little from the expense.

Other than the replay certificate, did you hear of any way to get on the course cheaper? I am heading down there in a couple weeks and would love to play Currituck but would rather not drop $160.

The Carolina Club is a real bastard when the wind's blowing - especially 6 (the island green) and 9 (the par 5 where you have to negotiate water on your first and second shot). That being said, it's the best value on the OBX IMO.

I'm playing Saturday afternoon at Nags Head GL - it's a little pricey and gimmicky but I can't resist playing that little track. Wife has been on my a** about playing too much golf, so I had get her out of town to oblige her. They turned Seascape into a ball breaker when they redid it. If I want to be in a street fight the entire time I'm out there, I'll go play Stonehouse or Royal New Kent (closer to home).

FatSlice-

I can think of two ways: One, play twilight, which drops it to $119 or so; The other is to rent a house from someone who has a membership - that drops the price also (I cannot remember how much).

You know, the place was *not* crowded...I bet if you simply called and said you wanted to play but wondered if there was any kind of discount off the $160 they would probably make some kind of offer to you.

Hey, jdubb....check it out.

My wife and I didn't feel like dragging our luggage back across country so I shipped it home. I was just unpacking it today after fedex dropped it off and was putting away some golf balls, ball markers, etc., and found a BLANK REPLAY CERTIFICATE! $120 to play before noon, $95 after noon. Good for up to 4 players. If you like, PM me your address and I'll stick it in the mail.

We're heading to the Outer Banks this weekend. Are there any courses fun to play for my high handicap that are under $100.00?

The Pines at Elizabeth City is pretty nice - if you're wild off the tee, I would avoid Nags Head Golf Links - it's only 6200 yds off the back tees but it's very tight and there's sea grass and bushes bordering every fairway - a lot of forced carries as well, and if it's windy, forget about breaking 90/100. Seascape is difficult as well, but it's more forgiving if you spray the ball.

I played Seascape (as well as The Point and Kilmarlic) in May and it was in REALLY bad shape. I have played it several times and liked it because it just seemed like it played so long. Had to use a lot of longer irons, which is unusual for me.

Had to resurrect this one, as I just got word we are headed to OBX in May.

Last time there, we played the Pointe and Carolina Club on the ole Golfnow discount. Both were good experiences. I'd like to try out some of the other courses, but I guess it will largely depend on where we can get the best deals.

Has anyone played out there recently?
