I just got a ci7 4-iron the other day. I tried it at the range today, and I love it...Overall a great club. However, I have only hit the 4-iron, so I cannot comment on the rest of them.

I'll be interested to hear responses on this, as I've been looking at the Ci7s as well.

I think the Ci7's are awesome irons for low to middle cappers. They look like players irons but they are slightly bigger.

They play a little long because of shafts and lofts but I think I will keep the Ci7's til I am low single digit.

Never heard anything wrong with the sticks especially for the price.

I've had some old Wilson fairway woods and a putter. Wilson, not Wilson Staff.
But I just don't like the whole brand, don't ask me why. Just as I do not like Taylormade irons (just by the looks, I never tried any) and have started to dislike Callaway irons as well since I realized they were all the same with only minor cosmetic changes.

I know there is bias in my judgment, so don't take my opinions seriously here.

haven't hit the Ci7 set.

but I gotta say, I started my bag with the Pi5s and then suddenly found myself with an entire wilson staff line as you can see below. love their clubs to death, and they're some of the best looking around. people are always wanting to pick them up and swing them at the local course

ultimately you've gotta hold them though and figure out if they inspire confidence or not

Wilson Staff iron then how do you know you wouldnt like it? is it because you just associate the cheaper Wilson brand with the Wilson Staff brand??? like the other poster said, there is a huge difference between Wilson and Wilson Staff . Wilson Staff makes some high quality gear. I have hit the Ci7's and i love them. and yes, they are VERY long. that would definitely be one of the sets I would look at buying if i were looking for new irons. i also really like the Wilson Staff Smooth driver

I also play the PI5s and Wilson harmonized wedges. They play better than I do so they will stay in my bag for a while.

You're probably right. The image of crappy old rusty Wilson irons from the 80's and 90's stacking in piles at our club's storehouse and sold to iron manufacturers (for melting and reusing) in kilograms has probably affected my view of the brand. When they demolished the old place where members store their bags, tons of these old Wilson, Slazenger, Spalding, etc.. irons were out there with no owners. Their owners probably dead, left forever, or just not caring to come and collect them, so they were all sold to steel factories. You're correct, I shouldn't make a judgment without trying their new Wilson Staff stuff. But I just can't get myself to leave all those major brands and look at a Wilson, however good it might be.

Just because they don't market their products like other companies doesn't mean that they are not a "major" brand. The last 2 Open Championships and the 2008 PGA Championship were won with what equipment? Oh yeah, Wilson Staff.

Hey Ryan,

To your question, No, they don't have a lot of offset. My buddy has some Taylormade RAC and those have a lot of offset. I hit his irons and was hooking, which for me is very rare. The Ci7's look thin and have flighted shafts which is nice for the longer irons. They also come with a gap wedge (I used to think pitching, sand lob was perfect) and are cheap as anything out there.

I didn't get them fitted, so I had to adjust a bit to the length. Maybe I will cut them down 1/2" to std someday.

Don't hesitate and get a used set on Ebay, if for any reason you don't like them sell them again and lose maybe $20

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
