Hello everyone, this is my first thread. I've been researching balls a lot lately and I was wondering what you all might think would be a great ball for me to try. I currently play the Pro-V1 and I like everything but the price. Then again, I haven't tried some of the newer balls on the market so maybe there is something out there better for me.

I was reading about the Bridgestone B330 RX and B 330S as well as the Pro-V1X. What is important to me is distance and feel around the greens. Here are my stats:

Driver
Launch: 11 - 12*
Ball Speed: 146mph
Club Speed: 100-102
Distance: Usually, 250-280 yds
Handicap: 9
Occasional golfer - a few times a month.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. I guess I don't mind paying more for a good golf ball if I benefit from it. I don't golf too often and a dozen balls lasts me more than a season. I was just curious about what's available. As you can see, my equipment is over ten years old. I was really crushing the '07 TM Burner driver last night at the local golf shop. Might have to pick that one up.

If you can, pick up a sleeve of the Nike One Tour D and try them out. I've been pleasantly surprised at their combination of distance off the tee and control/spin around the green.

I have recommended these before and will again. Get the Prov-1 practice off TGW. They are exactly the same except the paint isn't perfect and less than 30 bucks. Usually you can't tell where the issue is. I don't know if they are on there now but I have had a number of boxes and alway been happy.

Titleist ProV1x. Played with one ball my entire golf tournament yesterday - they've improved the durability of them. The Callaway's scuff much easier.

I am def. interested in this ball. Do you think my club head speed is high enough?

Go to golf galaxy and do the swing monitor for $20. They'll recommend a the perfect ball for your launch angle, club swing speed and ball spin. Note: This is mainly aimed at your driver however.

Absolutely. Mine is around 95 mph (w/ the driver) and I play this ball and it seemingly works as well as any other ball I've tried.

You'll probably see good results with the 1x off the tee, but you might struggle to compress it properly with the irons. My swing speed is about 105-110 and i use the regular proV for this reason. I lose off of the tee some, but i make it back up with the irons.

The only reason I like Prov1X more than the regular V1 is because I found the prov1 spins too much for me around the greens. I like a ball with a little less spin, but respectable spin (not a top flite) around the greens.

The 09 version doesnt spin as much as the old model did. It seems that way to me, anyway.

I agree with this. I did play the X for a while and loved it off the tee. But with the irons, it felt hard. The 09 balls seem harder than the previous ones. My iron play is weak so I feel like the extra spin helps me a bit.

Oh, well, I only used the Prov1 and Prov1x's the 2008 version. That is what our school gives us for free so that's what I use, haha.

I have been playing for many years, and just started getting more serious about my game. I didn't even know the ball made a difference, I am learning a lot from you guys, thanks.

I went to Golf Galaxy actually, and those were my swing stats with the driver I plan on purchasing. Still think the Pro-V1 is a good ball to stick with? I've just been hearing good things about the Bridgestones and no one seems to mention them on here.

The Bridgestone B330s is a fantastic ball, has all the qualities of the Pro V1; good distance , great spin more a hop and stop rather than suck back 6f, the only thing the V1 is better on is the putter but thats personal preferance.

Is there any truth to the rumour that Nike balls are actually made by Bridgestone??

When you went to GG, you didn't get a report of the balls that are custom fitted to you? When I hit 10 balls with my driver I got this report:

And then a custom ball fitting report as well:

    • Taking your dispersion and distance in consideration I analyzed the 4 posible ways to play the hole, or at least the ones that were listed here. I took the brown grass on the left as fescue were you need to punch out sideways to the fairway and rigth of the car path to be fescue too.  Driver "going for the green"  You have to aim more rigth, to the bunker in order to center your shotzone in between the fescue.  Wood of 240 over the bunkers I already like this one more for you. More room to land between the fescue. Balls in the fescue 11% down from 30% with driver. Improve of score from 4.55 to 4.40. 4 iron 210 yards besides the bunkers.    Also a wide area and your shot zone is better than previous ones. This makes almost the fescue dissapear. You really need to hit a bad one (sometimes shit happens). Because of that and only having 120 yards in this is the best choice so far. Down to 4.32 from 4.40. Finally the 6 Iron 180 yards to avoid all trouble.    Wide area an narrow dispersion for almost been in the fairway all the time. Similar than the previous one but 25 yards farther for the hole to avoid been in the bunkers. Average remains the same, 4.33 to 4.32.  Conclusion is easy. Either your 4iron or 6 iron of the tee are equaly good for you. Glad that you made par!
