Evening all,

It was my home clubs midweek stableford competition, i was paired with a 12 year old who plays off a 13 handicap. 1st green he has a 50ft putt for birdie and sinks it, from there on in he didnt miss a fairway a green and didnt make a double bogey all day! the course is best part of 6700 yards and this 12 year old only hits his drives best of 220 yds yet he manages to get the round the greens and gets up and down etc! After the front 9 holes he has 24 points!!!! He shot level par gross!

Back 9 was more of the same really, fairway, green 2 putt. Coming down 18 he was only 2 over gross, god knows how many under nett, he ends up with a bogey for a 73 46 points!!!!!

Was great to see but god damn it was annoying to watch haha!

Oh i shot 75 37 points!

Anyone else had an experience similar?

Doesn't sound like a 13 to me!

Even 12 year-olds can sandbag. I'd have kicked the little shit in the right knee at the turn!

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

My friend has an 11 year old daughter who is small for her age (skinny, short) and plays from the whites. She's deadly around the green and shoots 90 (+/- 4 shots) at her tough home course. It's always great to watch her play. Her dad scores around the same while kicking the ball from around trees, fluffiing his lie, self-taking 3 foot 'gimmies', playing OB as laterals, lost balls as "drop, no penalty", a handful of mulligans, etc. His daughter works hard to know all the rules and plays by them 100% of the time. In this case, she doesn't look to her dad or Tiger Woods to know how to play and behave on the course.

Got dusted by a 12 year old?!?!Sorry man but that is funny! There are a few kids around here that can play. Wouldn't mind seeing that kid's game when he is 19.

Dropping that many strokes in 6 months sounds like a growth spurt- sounds like the kid may have a future.

Years ago I taught a 10 year old that was routinely beating grown-ups by the time he was 12- shooting in the mid 70's. And he was a trash talker. Plenty of guys wanted to kick his ass, but you can't beat up a little kid! He was a cocky little shit. Real handsy swing and deadly from 100 yards and in.

I think he kinda peaked as a junior golfer though. He'd be in his 20's now and I haven't heard anything from him since he was in HS.

I'm 26 and this 12 year old hits it as far as I do

I think hitting far is overrated. I'd rather only drive 190 but be in the center of the fairway every time.

At the rate my 8yr old daughter is going, someone will be making this kind of post about her soon. It's amazing how fast they pick it up... especially if you don't try to coach too much and just let them swing away.

Its great to see young kids play some good golf, but when your getting beaten playing for money and the kid is playing his socks off every round what can you do but stand back and admire!

I got smoked by an 11 year old kid.

Our group all played from the tips which was about 6300 yards. I played pretty well and shot an 81. I came in third out of three in the group.

The 11 year old boy came in second with a 79 or so and the winner was...

His 13 year old sister who posted a 76!

It was actually quite fun.

I also got my but whipped by a girl that plays here on our college golf team from the tips.

If that's what you want, don't bother with all your woods and just get good with that hybrid of yours. If I hit only 190, I won't be making many fairways since a lot of them you need to carry at least 200. For me I think distance is quite important. I'll take a shot from the rough inside 150 versus fairways 150 plus. Of course, as long as we are not playing at some fescue infested golf course.

I get beat by 17-18 year olds regularly and its quite humbling.

I agree - also any hole over 360 yards its quite difficult to get close in two when you can only hit the ball 190 off the tee. If you think that the average golfer has a 10% margin of error on a golf shot (a 200 yard shot will be within 20 yards of the target) that means you are going to be looking at alot of long putts and tough up and downs. ALso, driving the ball well is a great way to start a hole. A bad drive putts me in the wrong mindset for the remainder of the hole. The hole concept of relax and stop thinking about it becomes very very difficult.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

I've been beaten by 78 year old several times (He frequently shoots his age).

He doesn't get far off the tee, but he is always straight and his short game (120 yards and in) is deadly.

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
    • They've been chuckling since they hooked the shark. I think Greg doesn't realize the jokes on him.
