Ok two Indy Golfer's ,now I gotta know are there any deals around there. I mean Purgatory is off the scale expensive, Ironwood looks fantastic, I will try the course, can't remember the name, on 166 th st in Noblesville across from Sagamore Golf Course. But I have been wondering if any one knows about say Brookshire, RiverGlen and any other's around northern Marion or Hamilton county?

I've played Ironwood, but don't have fond memories of it as my round was terrible! I'll be playing there again in about a month. The course seemed to be in good condition, fair price.

I've played Brookshire quite a bit. It's condition has improved recently. It's a fun and interesting course. River Glen is also a nice course, and I think it's a little less expensive to play opposed to Brookshire. Saddlebrook is a nice course in a similar price range to Brookshire and River Glen. Marion county has many park district course. I've played a couple and would say my favorite is South Grove off of 16th st.

Welcome, I'm also from Indy. Go Colts!

I tend to play Saddlebrook the most. A friend is playing Prestwick in Avon today, supposedly it's a nice course. I'm looking forward to finding out how it is.

I played Brookshire yesterday. There is no doubt that the overall condition of the course has improved once the City Of Carmel took it over. However, the greens are not great. I found them bumpy, they didn't roll true, and the speeds varied from green to green; sometimes speeds varied on different parts of the same green.
I used to live up in Fishers, and would play River Glen quite a bit. Decent course. They try to price themselves with the upscale courses in the area, and I think Ironwood is a much better value.
I have not played the Valley course at Ironwood, but the Lakes and Ridge provide a fun round of golf. It provides a good balance of risk/reward.
I used to belong to both Saddlebrook and Prestwick. Saddlebrook is a nice course, but it suffers from the fact that it's short length (about 6100 from the tips), means the course bogs down and rounds can go 6 hours or more. My Tuesday league played there once last year, it took over 3 hours to play 9 holes.
Prestwick is a fun private course. It's not particularly long, but it can provide a challenge if you are not accurate. Despite being a country club, it is not a stuffy atmosphere at all. The only reason why I'm no longer a member is because it's over 40 minutes from my house, making weekday play out there almost impossible for me.

In the bag:
Ping G5 Driver 9 degree, Ping G10 3-wood, Nike 3 hybrid, TaylorMade R9 Irons 4-AW, Cleveland CG15 56 and 60 degree wedges, Odyssey 2-ball blade putter

I was able to get out on Pleasant Run today. It's located around 10th and Arlington. Not a bad course. Very similar in feel to Sarah Shank. Some of the holes did have a somewhat awkward feel to them. Overall, not too bad.

So any of you want to get together and play , say maybe like Stoney Creek, Fox Prarrie or Brookshire as these course's are about 50-55 min's from me and have been on my radar for awhile. Good golfing weather is comming so maybe an impromto get together at one of these on some Sat afternoon, maybe a twilight rate, round?

You never know until you try, I spent most of my learning in the begining getting my hind end handed to me by friends who have played for years, I kept telling them I was sorry for playing bad until I started to play at the same level then began to go lower than them, so a good way to learn and improve is to jump in, just like swiming, gotta dive right in.
