Best way to ship golf clubs?

Well, I just sold my set of irons and now have to figure out how to ship these things!

You guys who have sold iron sets before, how did you ship em? Where did you get the box?

Ive got 17 bucks from buyer for shipping so I'd like to keep it under that.

Go to a big box store, like Dick's, and see if they have any boxes leftover from clubs they've sold. They are designed especially for golf clubs, so they're the best. Maybe add some padded packing paper into the box to keep the clubs from shifting around.

Fedex has some long triangular boxes that might work. We use them all the time to ship drawings and stuff for work.

If you go to Fed ex location they should pack them or give the box relatively cheap.I use UPS because they pack the whole damn thing right there right in front of me.

Not sure how much a box is. We buy in bulk cause we use so many of them here.

Simple, go buy youself a set of Mizunos, they will come packed nicely in a Mizuno box, use that box to ship your old ones. Problem solved.

Probably any golf store or pro shop will have a closet or backroom filled with club boxes. Just go in and ask. Probably won't cost a thing.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Well, I saw a guy 2 weeks ago air-mail his 3-wood from one side of the fairway back to his cart and it ended up broken. I wouldn't ship them that way. I suppose you could say he.....went postal?

No seriously, just go to any sporting goods place, even a wal-mart if for some reason Golf Galaxy or Dick's give you a problem and ask them for a box. You won't spend more than $17 with fed-ex or UPS. And always keep your boxes whenever you buy clubs.

When I bought my used clubs, they came in the "tube box" that was posted here before. The seller wrapped each club with newspapers to keep metal away from metal.

Worked pretty well. They arrived in good condition.

You should be able to find a sufficient box for free. It may take a couple of minutes...

Wrap the heads in newspaper & rubberband it on. Put 1/2 the clubs in head down, put 1/2 the clubs in grip down - to distribute the weight.

UPS, FedEx or USPS will all have comperable rates - depending on where you're shipping the clubs.

Any decision yet on your next set???

Hey guys, thanks for the advice, my wife actually went to Dicks and got me a box. So I'm gonna ship out those irons tomorrow.

Jay- thanks for all your help man, and yea, I have decided on the MP57's. Although thanks to what you have told me, if I cant get the 57's for the price I want, I will go with the J36's. They sound very similar to each other.

FedEx is the way to go for a set of irons. They are the cheapest, UPS is most expensive and USPS Priority is 2nd best to FE for iron sets. I always use USPS Priority for singles.

just go to edwin watts and get a irons box for free like ive done 5 times...... wrap each iron head individually and pack them, tape them and ship them.... fedex costed me $17 and change from florida to california

      Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.

      Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group.       I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
