Absolutely! If you have a little room in your yard, you can set up targets and practice your wedge game. Practicing putting on your carpet never hurts either.

I have an entire shortgame/workout area in my basement that I use heavily here in the northeast in the winter months. I put down some cheap builders carpet down and set up a large area that basically has a home gym for cardio, core strengthening, and specific golf exercises using elastic bands. I have a putting area where I can practice up to about 20 footers, and a longer area where I can chip to about 50-60 feet. I also put up a golf net and hitting mat but because of the low cieling I can only hit 3/4 wedge shots. My son is still short enough that he can hit full shots into the net all winter. The only thing I'm missing is a sand bunker,,lol.

Two other items that I use heavily during the offseason are a 5-iron dual hinge Medicus, and a weighted driver, The Maximus. I swing these two clubs upstairs in the family room(cautiously making sure all is clear) nearly everyday over the winter. The Medicus helps keep my tempo in check and the Maximus helps build golf muscle and swing speed.

You would be suprised at how quickly you can reach mid-season form early in the year by putting in some practice at home during the winter months if you live in the snow belt.

Good Luck!

That's freakin' awesome!

My friend just got this crazy 10' putting system for his house. Raised above the floor, real hole accommodates 4 balls. You can even add break! It went on my Amazon wish list. Tour Links Dogbone Indoor/Outdoor Putting Green

That's freakin' awesome!

For $300 you better be able to adjust break!

I'd actually consider getting one if I had the money.

Is there any way it is possible to work on my game from home.

Most definitely there is. I bought a pack of 30 wiffle balls, and another pack of 30 foam balls, and I regularly hit them from off of the carpet in my living room. Obviously, they're not going to spin like a real ball, but they actually do spin somewhat. The reason I mention this is because you should pay close attention to which way the ball moves once it makes contact with the net/wall/whatever. That will give you an idea of which direction the ball is spinning.

I also have a couple of large orange buckets from Home Depot, which I will set up in different locations and chip into. One other thing I do from time to time is pitch from my living room, through the bathroom door, and into the tub. I'll pick out a 3x3 section of the wall behind the tub, and that is my target area. I'll swap it up from time to time, and just pitch it into the tub without hitting the wall at all. This emulates a pitch that will land softly and sit. Yes, I get bored and creative sometimes Too much rain here lately.

Sure, I spend time in two ways, first I swing a short weighted club and stretch and second I work on putting and chipping/pitching. I have a 9 ft putting green and will work on making 5 putts in a row, then 10, then 20 and so on until I feel I can't miss. You will be amazed at how much better your putting will be from all distances come spring. When you are faced with a 35 ft putt you won't worry about running it 6 ft by because you know you will make the comeback putt.

I also use a streching pole, found a video of a long drive contest winner, and follow his streching routine using the pole. I have found this is a big help, as I have gotten older, I work more on streching then on strengh.

I am trying to figure out a way to make my own "poor man's" golf simulator in my garage. Most good ones run $15-60K, but I found one from P3Proswing that includes the sensor and software for $1,500. I figure I can add a mat for $350, my own projector screen for $200, a used HD projector for $500, and then build a studio frame with netting for about $400. That totals around $3,000. I know, a lot of money, but it would be sweet to hit balls anytime I wanted during the winter months.

I'm in the process of doing the same thing. After tons of research I decided that the p3proswing might not be that great for simulated golf but will definitely do the job as far as giving you feedback on your shots into the net.

Just because of the design of the thing. .I can't see myself hitting irons that much. I can't see how the tape would stay on the club for more than a shot or 2. I also can't see myself enjoying putting with it. I'm going to just start with a laptop and, if the simulated courses turn out to be fun, maybe I'll add a projector later. This way I'm definitely in the $1500 range for everything to get started. They have a p3proswing at my local golf shop. They don't use the simulator but use it to fit clubs and demo clubs. The guy said he felt like it was about 90% accurate. They've had thier unit for 3 years without any problems. That pretty much sold me.

You bet. This is where ALL of my practice now occurs after the birth of my son. It is important to get a decent mat to avoid inury. For putting I recommend the "Boomerang", $30-$40 on ebay. I've had one for about a year and love it....

What tape are you referring to? My understanding from looking at the p3proswing analyzer is that you use unmodified clubs.

I am just beginning to research this and would be very interested in getting some feedback from you. What is the minimum width, depth, height that you are using for your setup? What kind of support structure do you plan to build - a back (for the projector screen) and side (for netting), and a false floor also?

Yeah, but no details. I found some posts on an AVS forum from a guy who did this and he put a lot of thinking into his setup. The screens are real important - a conventional movie projector screen would not hold up to repeated golf ball hits off of a driver from 8' (especially since I regularly drive 300 yds straight down the pipe

). The post I found indicated this guy used heavy-duty marine vinyl glued(?) to a 1000-denier fabric and weighted at the bottom. My biggest obstable is room right now. I have a garage w/ a 10' ceiling, but have limited depth due to the garage door opener track. As a result, it would be a challenge to mount a projector high enough and far enough away to have a clear, unobstructed projection onto the screen w/ at least a 6' high 4:3 ratio image.

This website has a lot of info. They say the tape is optional on irons but the golf shop said they use tape on all the clubs. They did mention that found some tape cheaper than the stuff sold by p3proswing for much cheaper and works the same. I can't remember what it was . . .I'll have to ask them again.

http://www.par2pro.com/virtual_golf_...lub_taping.php I am going totally cheap-o on this. My hitting area will be in my garage. I don't plan on building any structures or anything like that. I have some heavy canvas tarps that I use for camping. They are about 10x15 and have metal eyelets. I will tie them to the rafters and to something heavy on the floor . .like maybe coffee can filled with cement or something so the canvas is achored at top and bottom. With 4 tarps I can protect the back, sides and cieling . .although there's no windows in my garage and nothing really to protect, it will at least prevent ricochets from hitting me or my laptop. .lol. Then I will just put the p3proswing or a hitting mat in front of it and smash away. I will plug the p3proswing into a laptop placed behind me and out of the way. Since I already own a the laptop, all I need is the p3proswing and a hitting mat. My local golf shop just has a large, driving range style mat with a square cut out in the center for the p3proswing. That puts your feet at about level with the top of the unit. Like I said . . .after all my research I am still a little skeptical that I will actually use this thing all the time . .so I am starting as cheap as possible and figure can always add more later. As far as dimensions go . .I'm just using an empty garage (I park in the driveway). But my area will probably be about 10ft wide and 10-12ft deep. I have open rafters so ceiling hieght is no problem.

I, too, have an indoor mat/net setup in the garage but caution you to be careful not to develop poor habits. I found that I need to really focus on takeaway, alignment, etc. since I don't have the feedback that comes from watching the ball flight.

Has anyone bought, or better yet built their own, PVC plane "hoop"? Basically, the large circular plastic pipe contraption I see at several golf shops to make sure you're backswing/downswing is on-plane. I'm seriously considering buying some PVC pipe and fittings from the local Depot...

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
    • Slight digression on the way to my point. Back in the day there were a lot of people who said that Tiger won because of “the Tiger effect” where people pushed too hard and made mistakes trying to catch him and fell by the wayside. I thought that was BS. It was just that he was that much better than them. I don’t think anything has changed my mind on that.    The hype about Miles Russell is very limited. I’ve seen nothing about him outside of some fairly hardcore golf websites. But I think that the reason those people are talking about him is because he is very good. Same as Tiger. And like I said he just broke one of Tiger’s records. That gets hardcore golf fans to pay attention.
