Okay so here's the deal as I see it. The PGA Tour players we've measured move their heads 1" or so on the backswing. Their weight at setup is roughly 55/45 - to the left or to the right - basically centered. At A4 their pressure is 65-70% right (their weight is roughly the same as their address weight distribution - most that have movement are towards centered). So you have a steady head now. You have a flat left wrist (shaft not passing lead arm) at impact now. You have a reasonably good diagonal sweetspot path, and you lack a little clubface control, so that needs a little work too. But really, this is a Key #2 deal: weight forward. It's going forward throughout the backswing and then increasingly so throughout the downswing. You won't have 65-70% of your pressure right (pressure, not weight) at A4. Here are some pictures.

Awesome, thanks, and okie dokie. I'll be at the range the next few days working on that. Fosbury Flop, Fosbury Flop, Fosbury Flop.

I went to the indoor range today (first time swinging a club since early October, and I haven't played a round since late August; for the record I'm way past withdrawal symptoms), and took some video. All of my old habits have crept back in (so I'm not going to even bother uploading it to YouTube) but I'm hoping to get in a lot of practice the rest of December and into January.

Again just feel like your right hip goes away from the target as well (and not forward).

Yeah a comfortable "stretch" into the followthrough.  Like how the feet look, stable footwork.

I've been out of commission for a bit for a few reasons. First, it was high school vacation week, which doesn't affect me but the indoor range I go to is a soccer dome, so they did kids camps those entire 10 days. Then I had my wisdom teeth pulled and was on some meds that you're not supposed to drive with, plus every time I would get my heart rate up it would start bleeding. Anyway, here are a few videos from just before that. I wasn't trying to do anything with the hips, so this (predictably) isn't an improvement in that area, but the week before these videos my impact had gotten completely out of whack. So I spent some time looking back over this thread and the stuff (mostly setup) I worked on with Erik last summer, and that cleaned up impact pretty quickly. Violent forearm rolling aside. Anyway, video: Pictures: So, yeah. Nothing new to report per se, but I figured I'd post something. My current hope is to get to the range tomorrow, and work in ernest on the backswing EDIT: Grr. Range wasn't open last thursday or friday, or today (monday). They've assured me that they won't be closed tuesday though.

Yep, hips will feel like they slide back in the backswing. Stick your belly out a little bit (to the left in a face-on view).

But you know that.

The range was finally open today. Tested out a certain feeling. Results: l didn't take a DTL video so I can't be sure but it looks like I may have ended up making my shoulders more flat which sort of artificially created that slight difference in angle, because my hips are obviously as far forward ever. So, no real progress. I'll try again this thursday if they're open.

Found a few videos on my hard drive from the end of last year that I took at regular speed, pre-shot routine and all. Thought it might be interesting. I apologize for the fact that I get a wedgie around :20 in the 6-iron one. These are both with absolutely zero swings thoughts. Just ... swing. Great soundtrack of crickets, doing their cricket thing. Swing looks like a great "natural" swing to me. Does anything ever go wrong with it? Just on clubs, are you +1 " or more on your sticks. Just when you stepped up to hit the 6iron It looked like you were hitting a 9.

Taking the above advice may lead to destruction of your golf game. Laughing at it may reduce stress.

Yeah, the sound was kind of nice. Especially since the normal slow motion videos are silent
Swing looks like a great "natural" swing to me. Does anything ever go wrong with it?
I guess it's natural in that there are some things I've never changed. It also tends to look more "natural" when I haven't practiced much lately. I'll have stretches where I get into hooking or slicing, and sometimes I'll lose control of contact for a while. But I don't have that specific shot shape that I've ben trying to get rid of my entire life. Biggest weakness is inconsistency, which is what a lot of my changes reflect. • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
    • What simple fact? A golf match is not a coin flip — there is a fact for you. I'm trying to help you, and you're throwing out what could easily be called sour grapes. Come with FACTS, not weak analogies. Then you've got nothing. Hopefully they've done a better job of making their case. 😛
    • It's pretty close. The odds of a 50/50 shot going your way 21 times are greater than 1 in a million!  I guess your point is, that simple fact is not enough to declare these guys dirty rotten sandbaggers. I disagree, but fair enough. I posted it here on the message board to get different perspectives, after all.  I probably won't be digging further into specific scores. I have no dog in this fight beyond a generalized contempt for sandbagging. With that said, it would not surprise if a lot of clubs shared my concern and were grousing about it to the SCGA.
    • I had an article on Cam Smith pop up along with this..... Current major eligibility list for all LIV Golf players Here's a look at which majors, if any, all LIV Golf players are eligible.
