Reading through lots of these posts reveals a lot of good golfers! At present I am not a good golfer, but have just started playing, so my overall goal is to become a good golfer with a decent handicap etc.

But pragmatically, for 2010:

  • Step up from playing par3 pitch & putts to full length courses
  • Get a consistent swing
  • Two putt when on the green

Cheers everyone - have a good season!

I have several goals for this season:

1. Work on enforcing what I learned the end of last season in some lessons
2. Play at minimum once a week as soon as the courses open
3. Work on consistency with my driver
4. Emphasize working on my 150 yard and in game

1. Improve my short game.

- Average under 1.75 putts per round
- Get up and down consistently

2. Shed these last 12 pounds of extra weight and hopefully add some flexibility and distance

3. Play on a regular basis and hopefully learn some consitency

4. With all the above hopefully see my first round under 85

Last year tracking my results produced the following at an 8.1 handicap:

FIR – 41% (5-6 fairways per round)
GIR – 33% (5-6 greens per round)
Avg putts per round - 30
Up & Down avg – 37%

This was a real eye opener to me since I thought a lot of my problems were off the tee but now I see that I need to work harder on GIR’s…iron play...

So my 2010 goals are as follows:

1) GIR’s = 39% (7 greens per round)…switching to the S&T; (late last fall), changing irons (see sig) and fixing my shoulder this January (torn rotator and labrum) should help on this quest.
2) Avg putts per round = 30 (with more GIR’s for 2010 it will be a challenge to stay consistent with last year)
3) FIR’s = 46%
4) Up & Down avg – 40%

TEE - XCG6, 13º, Matrix Ozik HD6.1, stiff
Wilson Staff - Ci11, 3-SW, TX Fligthed, stiff

I started golfing last August, first time ever...shot between 100 and 110 for most rounds, a few outliers. This winter i have been taking lessons, i hope i be a 90's shooter this season. Feeling much more comfortable with my swing, can't wait for this season. Signed up for a season pass as a local course 30 seconds from my house, going to get ALOT of golf in this year!

1. Establish official handicap Never really had one before and I NEED one. Getting club membership so this should be no problem
2. Continue overhauling/rebuilding swing and be ready to play by May This is a big goal, I have been completely rebuilding my swing over the last few months
3. Continue minimum 1.5 hours practice per non round days
4. Get at least 40 rounds in this year Shouldn't be that tough, plan to play 2x during the week and 3x on the weekend
5. Get handicap below 5 Big goal, but considering how terrible my swing was, I think this is achievable

1. Break 80 once. Only done it once before (actually shot a 75) and that was a couple years back. Would love to do it again. Heck, shooting mid/low 80s consistently would be nice.
2. Figure out how to calculate my handicap. This one is easy enough, I've just never cared enough to figure it out. I usually shoot around high 80s, low 90s.
3. Win a best ball (scramble, whatever it's called) tournament I play in May. I know it's not really an individual goal since it's a 4 man tourny, but last year we came in second so I'm trying to up my game a bit to push us over the top.

Just getting back into the game after a long layoff from it.

1. Finally learn to hit the woods or at least get the driver under control.

2. Keep the ball in play.

3. Work on consistency.

4. Break 100 on a regulation course.

5. Health: lower my weight and blood pressure which should help with all the above.

6. Re-establish a Handicap rating.

7. Try to shoot at least one round in the 80's by the end of summer, which I should be able to do if I succeed with #2 and get out enough.

There are more but these are the main ones. #7 is just a target on the horizon for now.

My only goal this season is this:

Stop being lost

Last season kept me in some balloon of lost-ness, i was constantly changing my setup looking for my lost balance, slowing my swing or speeding it up, relaxing and not relaxing, finding my groove just to loose it once more. I had my lowest round ever last summer and had some much wanted consistency, never shot over 87 which is a big leap but somehow I was lost. I would like that to stop this season, just keep my stance, play with a steady tempo, and give it a go. Hopefully I can reach this goal.
