This is a cover of the Metallica song "Orion" done by Rodrigo y Gabriela, who are each playing a classical guitar in this piece. I think it's pretty well done.

And this is a clip of Metallica playing their famous Moscow Concert back in 1991. This clip is so epic.

Um ... guitars ... yet another potentially bottomless pit of obsession and financial strain associated with feeling the "need" for custom equipment

It goes away.  Good players generally find one or two guitars and stick with it.  Dann Huff, Larry Carlton, etc.  They all seem to revert back to one or two main guitars, in Huff's case, a Tyler LA Studio, in Carlton's case, a Gibson ES-335.  For me, it's a 1963 Fender Stratocaster.

He's a professional guitarist, so yes, probably safe to assume he's "good." :-P

Even though SAM has his issues (i.e. the literal definition of the term "average") he's on the money about guitarists having their favourites. Look at a photographic history of some artists and you'll see the same guitars over and over again. Especially acoustic guitars.

I read a story about Steve Via where he was at a tour stop and a rep from a guitar maker came through and was working on some of Via's guitars.  Apparently on one of them he replaced the old original pickups with nice new ones (because they were like really old).  When Via found out they had to turn the bus around and go back to the stop and go through the trash dumpster until they found the old pickups.

A little biased? Sure he's a good player, but the boundaries at Christchurch are tiny, wouldn't have got away with half of those shots, say at the MCG. I could name many innings better than this one, Laxman's 281 comes to mind. So does Ricky Ponting's innings in the 2003 final or tendulkars 200 not out in an ODI.

Some good moments:

Yes It is biased LOL

Maybe his 158* from only 73 balls for the Kolkata Knight Riders was better, in the same match he also claimed the record for most sixes (13)........it wasn't so much the score, but the type of shots he played, the scoops etc in Christchurch

And you can't compare T20 with tests or one dayers

Anyway, here's another good catch

See America? You don't need that silly glove on to catch a ball

Paul Collingwood's catch off hayden would surely be one of the greatest ever:

Professional piano player, not guitar, but I've held up my end with a guitar here and there.  I've played for maybe a few thousand people and on some recordings.  I'm not "good" in my own view.  I have plenty of instruments, and all are good in some way, but that one just gives you that certain sound you're after.  I like the fact I can play some good James Harrah style or maybe a good Steve Lukather imitation.  Those guys, though, are good.

I think that might be the greatest catch of any sort that I've ever seen. How can I watch cricket in the US?
