  1. 1. Would you turn in the club to the pro shop if you found a lost club on the course?

So in the current issue of Golf Digest it had a article about how they left 25 wedges at 25 differnt course with a phone number on them to return them to and 21 of the wedges were called on to be returned. Was just wondering if anyone has lost a golf club and if so did you ever get it back. This just intrigued me cause i just lost my pw saturday and today someone turned it in to the pro shop at the course .

I voted "yes". I once had a couple wedges stolen out of my bag at the range - when I had my back turned. Some people just plain suck.

I returned a club to a guy on the hole in front of me one time this summer, and he gave me $20! I insisted he take it back, but he stuck it in my golf bag so I just said thank you and played on. I wonder if it's still there.......

Returned clubs, towels, cell phone and head covers. Don't hold your breath waiting for your ball to be returned cause I'm playing it if its good or in my practice bucket if something I don't like (this only applies to balls found when no else is on the course). Never lost a club on the course, would truly suck if someone is so low they would take it for them selves.

Lost a 7 iron on the 18th green once, never returned.

Lost a scotty headcover on a previous green, never returned and when i asked a guy who pulled up behind me if he found it - he lied when i saw it on his putter - i didnt figure it was worth starting a fight over so i'll let karma take care of him

Lost a cell phone on the course once and thankfully that was returned since it was my work phone and i was supposedly working at the time.

I have found 4-5 clubs when on the course and have turned each into the pro shop unless I found the owner before I got in.

Yes there are some really sucky people out there. I have found and returned clubs, and have had a couple returned to me over the years. Also had a Ping putter headcover returned. Usually I don't get all the way to the clubhouse though. Owners come back looking, I never got a tip or offered one.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

Honestly, no.

When I find a club, I just stick it in my bag and if I don't see someone looking for it or ask me if I have found it, I keep it. If it had contact information I would definitely contact them and let them know I've found it and I'll usually call the pro shop and ask if anyone has called asking about it.

I found a very nice TM 7 iron this past season ... crossed a fairway to ask the guys ahead of me if they lost it and one of them had. He was very grateful and I felt good making the effort ... it was just the right thing to do in my opinion.

I have found many and have always found the owner or turned it into the Pro Shop. My home course offers the shaft labels with your personal information on them. I have never ordered them, but I think after reading this article, I am going to.

I have found many and turned them in to the pro shop and sometimes approach the group in front and ask them.I left a 56* wedge on the edge of the 16th green and never got it back.Found numerous head-covers on the course and a scotty cameron one in the car-park.Handed them all in.Wouldn't even think about keeping them.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
