Yesterday I was treated by a member to play the Lower Course at Baltusrol. I must say, that course is beautiful. The whole experience was incredible. We got there at about 10am for a 1:15pm tee time, allowing for me to walk through the locker room and see who the members were, look at memorabilia from when Jack won twice, Phil won in '05 and all the old pictures from how it used to look. Playing the course was tough, hitting just 2 fairways and 4 greens. I played off the blue tees (7,000+ yards) and had a great caddie named Abdul. After playing 3 holes, he knew relatively what I was hitting and suggested from there on out. I putted quite well considering the greens were really fast, but true (31 putts). I felt like I had to share, don't know who all has played there but figured I'd post, hoping to hear any stories you guys out there might have. Btw, I shot an 87 and loved every minute of it.

Nice shooting with the 87! Back in high school we played Baltusrol once a season against Springfield High..it was their home course. Talk about winning the home course lottery. I'll never forget my senior year match against them. We played the Lower Course which starts with a manageable Par 5. Our foursome tee'd off first. With my entire team, Springfield's team, and various club members and reps watching, I proceeded to shank my drive dead left....50 yards, into Baltursrol rough on a rainy day. I was mortified, and caught my coach giving me this deer in headlight look like what was THAT?! Needless to say, I couldnt get off that teebox fast enough!! Funny thing was I ended up parring the hole. Anyway, thats my Baltusrol moment

My memory has faded since then, but I remember the course beating up on all of us pretty good each time we had the privilege.
I would jump at the chance to play there again... just an incredible course and facilities.

In high school my team played Norton High once a year, who's home course was TPC Boston.

    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club? • Day 3- Practiced putting for 20 minutes.
    • Interesting that Scottie is #10 on the all time money list and he's been on the PGAT for 4 years. Of course, purses are bigger now, but  neat to look at non-the-less.  The list of top 18 money winners in PGA Tour history has plenty of surprises This list is updated through the 2024 RBC Heritage. To add, Scottie won 4.5 million at the Players, Jack played 44 seasons and won a little of 5 million on course.
    • 43 (6 over) Couple bogies, couple Pars, a birdie and no doubles. Not bad for first 9 of the year.
    • Most the stuff I found on Instagram and just copy and mix it up. a few of my favorites: Clean>Squat>Press> March Around the body >catch >Squat> press I also hold a the kettle bell upside down with both hands on the handle. Squat when I stand back up I lift the kettlebell up over and behind my head and hold then repeat
