I know I know there are a few forums based off of the winter season but I am writing how miserable it is here on Long Island, NY. I can't stand seeing snow anymore and am going stir crazy looking at my clubs. On top of going nuts looking at my clubs being on here and going to golf websites and golf stores I am re considering my entire set and am trying to fight myself from buying more golf clubs equipment etc that I don't need. Currently re-evaluating my wedges. Why don't know I like the x-forged but really like the Vokey I got not too long ago and am on the fence about changing my wedge set up to all Vokeys. Just bought a 52 deg. Anyone else having the same issues as far as not being able to play due to weather and re-examining your clubs, buying more clubs?

We've had way more snow than normal in middle TN....and I'm sick of it.  Supposed to bump 50* this weekend, but if the snow doesn't all melt soon enough the course will still be closed.

Winter sucks.

I'm lucky enough to have been in Palm Springs for the past month after taking a hiatus for a semester from school to visit ASU and get my game on. Going back to Wisconsin this week, supposed to leave Wednesday and fly into Chicago but I doubt it with the blizzard they are predicting.

I hate winter so much, I use the time to hit a billion putts on carpet, just to keep a good rhythm. I also find myself constantly doing swings without a club to see if my flexibility is perishing. Us golfers in the north/midwest/etc. really got it rough in the winters. And this week looks like old man winter is going to throw it in our faces again, I'll be leaving 70+ degree weather for feet of snow and sub zero windchills, golfers depression should kick in about Sunday if I get home Thursday. : (

Just back from Phoenix, AZ. for a family emergency. My great uncle and I had to get out of the hospital environment for awhile so he took me to an executive par 3 and par 4 course. I played with some crappy graphite shafted irons in senior flex. I looked like a real hacker out there (even more than usual), but it was glorious wearing shorts and a short sleeve shirt!

Here I am back in the midwest awaiting the arrival of the storm of the century.

Winter definitely sucks!

Are your ranges snow covered? The local one ran out of balls and since they cannot get them with snow on there they are closed until it melts. Its a good thing Ive managed to put together a couple buckets of beat up balls living next to a course.

I used to have that problem, then I picked up hockey as my winter hobby, so I dont really have time to sit around and ponder what clubs are in my bag.

Golf season ends just as hockey season begins and when hockey season ends, golf season is in full swing.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

lol actually...since you mentioned it...there's two ranges up my way that have heated booths...one of them (the nicer one) ran out of balls about 3 weeks ago. the other one, has had balls (allbeit crappy ones) to fill the jumbo buckets. today i called the better range and found out they now have enough to fill jumbo buckets for at least another 2 weeks...so unless we have some ridiculous snow, we should be good to go till spring. i'm headin down to SC next thursday night till march 2nd so, i won't be too worried

    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
    • I agree with @klineka & @DaveP043 above.  When a new member first joins the club they cold be told that they are not eligible for tournaments until they have an established HCP.  As you said, it only takes a few rounds.  If they do not to post HCP that was their choice and choices have consequences.  If playing in the tournament is important to them then they should step up and establish an HCP.  Maybe they miss the 1st tournament, is that a real big deal?  And if it is a "Big Deal" to them then they had the opportunity to establish the HCP. As for not knowing how to report for HCP I assume your club has a pro and they should be able to assist in getting the scores reported and I suspect out of state courses may also have staff that can assist if asked.
    • Wordle 1,013 2/6 🟨⬜⬜🟨🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Thought I was gonna be a big shot today...  🙂    Nice Job!
    • Cool here's my tweak, "If a player’s ball lies in the general area and there is interference from exposed tree roots or exposed rocks that are in the fairway or 1 club length from the fairway the tree roots and exposed rocks are treated as ground under repair. The player may take free relief under Rule 16.1b.[But relief is not allowed if the tree roots only interfere with the player’s stance.]
