I have done this since I was a kid. I love doing it and I know it made me a better putter. When I was bored I would go up to the golf course and play 72 holes putting, 18 at a time and give myself a number under par (which was always my previous best record +1) that the leader of this 72 hole tournament was at (I liked to think it was Phil or Tiger) and try to beat that.

Great!  I love it too.  There's something really rewarding about picking a line and speed and putting the best stroke you can on it.  Sometimes, when I grade myself, I get 3 A's, perfect speed, perfect line, perfect stroke.  Most of the time I don't.  You can hole a surprising number of putts with an overall B average.  It's always been so curious to me that people either think about putts as "in" or "not in".  Talk about taking a grey area and making it black and white.  It's the most philosophically weird of all the athletic endeavors.

I would enjoy lengthy putting practice, but my lower back gets sore very quickly. Maybe something wrong with my posture?
