I just picked up a Pro Gold 18* with the Matrix S shaft. I love this club and it has been a real good find for me as over the last two rounds I am 7/8 off the tee.  I am thinking about another one.   My question is what would be the anticipated distances with the various lofts given my profile? This is an older model so I would have to order. I haven't seen any in the stores so the launch monitor is n/a.

I play to a 5.6 index, ss with driver is 103, I hit the 18* 225-230 with a mid trajectory (straight to slight draw). What could I reasonably expect from the 20* or 23*? I have been thinking about the 20 but I don't know what 2* in a hybrid would equate to. It would be a 3 iron replacement and I hit that 210. Any ideas (no pun intended)?

I went through a similar experience. I recently bought a Adams Black Super hybrid in 15 degrees of loft to replace my 3 wood. I hit it about 10 yards shorter then the 3 wood but much much straighter. 3 wood was 255-260ish, 15 degree was 245

Actually, I hit this club so well I decided to get another one to replace my 3 iron. I was able to get on a launch monitor with the 17 & 19 degree to compare them to the 15 degree. The 17 was only 9.4 yards shorter on average (10 shots) The 19 degree was 17.3 shorter then the 15 degree so that is what I went with as my 3 iron replacement.

15 degree - 245yds

17 degree - 235yds

19 degree - 227yds

hope this helps

OK, so I got the club and I went to the launch monitor and course and this is the deal...

Cally 3 (15*) 245

Adams 18*   230

Adams 20*  215

Perfect fit!  The thing I have to be careful with is to swing smooth.  For some reason you can really juice these babies.

I have the exact clubs...and I like them as much as you do. They are the first hybrid that I can actually hit a low bullet if needed or I can make them go sky high. Very workable. I have the 18 degree and the 20 degree. For me I am hitting the 18 degree about 235 - 240 yards...the 20 degree is about 220. I could hit the 20 degree probably a little further if I wanted to. But the one thing I really love about these clubs is how I can choke down, maybe swing 80% and I can hit it 200 yards...and accurate. Nice, high and soft. It takes some practice to do. But I bought the 18 and 20 to replace my 2 and 3 iron...but I actually hit them a little further. So I learned to back them off. I know we have a few locally. How quick do you want the club? Want me to take a look at a few shops as I stop in the next few weeks?

Wet Doggg, thanks, but I already bought it.  I appreciate the offer.

My distances are carry, and yeah, I can get 220 out of the 3H by jumping on it or grip down and back off to get closer to 205.  I love the 2H off the tee and with the 230 carry I can get it out there 240 with roll.  Like you, I replaced a 2 and 3 iron and they are a touch strong.  These are giving my game new life with the versatility they bring.  Awesome sticks!

Cool...glad you got it already. I am still amazed at how straight these clubs go. Yes, off the tee is awesome. I have considered dumping my 3 wood as I almost never hit it. I am more consistant with my driver. Guess practice with my 3 wood this spring is in order.

I paid less for both of mine and they were brand new. On another note. Spoke with the Adams rep yesterday. They are coming out with a new "player" hybrid line and a new "player" iron line. He had prototypes of both and they looked sweet. More rounded back side on the hybrid that the current black.

    • Agree. The next omission needs to be that ridiculous team concept. Nobody cares about a team when they really don’t represent anything except being a group of diminished morality and/or washed up pro golfers. Or wait, we’ve also got total nobodies who’ve accomplished nothing who now get a participation trophy! Doesn’t that sound invigorating!
    • LIV moving to 72 holes is a subtle admission that 54 holes was nothing but a joke all along.
    • I was going to start a thread, but this seems like the place.  Yesterday I played my matchplay match at my local club.  My opponent is a notorious sandbagger by reputation.  The pro once pulled his tournament rounds from the past several years and said that it is impossible his tournament rounds are legit based on his handicap. here is what happened last night.  I am getting 4 shots from him.  His current handicap index is 15.3 i shot 45 on the front.   Was down 4 after nine, he had three birdies and shot even par. I was closed out on thirteen, we halved with a bogey.  That bogey put him one over par for his round.   He then took a triple on 14 and then left. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he lied about his score.   I wrote down on my scorecard what the score was.  He put higher values that didn’t affect the outcome of the match to pad his score and apparently make it not look as obvious.   He shot 36 on the front, but claimed 40.  The higher values for his score were in the online scoring app our club uses.  He did it this way: I won #7. He had a 2 foot putt for par that if he made would still lose the hole.   He picked up and said it didn’t matter since I won.  He took a 5 instead of a 4 after picking up a gimme. on #8 his approach shot on this par 4 was 8 inches.  I verbally conceded the putt but I had hit into a hazard.  I finished the hole with a 6.  Instead of birdie he put in for par. on #9, another par 4, his approach was to 18 inches.  I missed my par putt and then knowing how close I verbally conceded the putt.  I missed my bogey putt, he never conceded mine.  Instead of birdie he put down a bogey. He padded his score by 4 shots on the front.  And then did again on 10.  I rinsed one and made 6 on a par 4.  I putted out and he was fishing balls out of the lake so I drove off to the next tee.  He had 15 feet laying two but claimed a 5.     love to know the odds of a 15 handicap being even thru 12 holes on a round of golf.
    • They've been chuckling since they hooked the shark. I think Greg doesn't realize the jokes on him.
    • to confirm, I'll need a hotel for Friday and Saturday, planning to share with you
