Holed out from the bottom of a valley, hitting my 64 degree sandwedge as hard as I could, something like 50-60 yards.  Got up to the green and there it sat, in the bottom of the cup.  I snickered a bit and went to the next hole.

You hate to even tell people that story since it was done by yourself.  But what the hell?  Go for it.

160 yard par 3 (I think, the yardage varies by about 10 yards depending on which tee boxes they use), hit a 6I to about 1 foot.  I'm actually almost glad it didn't go in just because I'd rather have a witness for an ace...

I played a par 3 course end of last season alone, and hit the flag stick and sat about half a foot away on the first hole. Like Zeg said, I was kinda glad it didn't go in....no one would believe me.

I never play as good alone as I do with people. I really like the pressure of having someone watching. Not only that but playing with someone else you don't have to watch your ball perfectly. I find myself taking my eye off the ball way too early and shank it.

But my best shot playing alone? Probably just a long 3w on this downhill par 5 at my home course. I never hit a good shot at it, but this one actually went long and straight... wtf

No aces, but a heck of a lot of shots to inches.  So many I can't remember all of them.  Probably the best was 156 yard par-3, I had an 8-iron and hit the stick on the fly.  Next week, same course, same hole.  I tried to hit the stick again and did it.  There was a guy walking by and he was like "What the?"  I strolled up with my head high like I was a tour pro at a muni

I have had two very good shots both at the same hole. Hole 7 of our course is a par 5 that starts off with an elevated tee box and then goes uphill from 275 yards and in. I hit my drive to the 250 mark and then chunked my next shot from the uphill lie 100 yards. I am now 150 yards uphill with the pin in the back so I am playing this for about 175. I hit a 5 wood smoothly and I see it go over the green and bounce on the hill behind the green. I walk up to the green and check behind the hill and no ball, I check left of the hill and no ball. Finally I say to myself that I will walk by the hole and sure enough the ball is in for my second eagle.

Next morning the same pin placement I am about 125 yards from the hole and put my shot off the same bank to about 2 feet and hole it for birdie. I asked the guys to keep the pin placement there all the time but they keep insisting on changing it.

First round of the year this year and just getting back into the grove. Get to the 9th which is a downhill par 3 that plays about 175ish. I hit the most perfect 5 iron I've every hit in my life. It felt completely effortless and honestly sounded like you would hear the pros hit on TV. It was about 15 feet away but the contact that I made was what made it so great. Of course I was pumped but there was no one there to share the moment with

Last season, second shot on hole # 13 at NECC.  ~190 yards out from back hole pin, slightly uphill over tricky expanse of ESA (can only see the top of the flag).  Pured a 5-iron, and it had that forged butter Mizzy feel so I knew that it was a well struck iron.  Got up to the green, and had the ball 6" under the cup.  That close to an Eagle...

I'm always playing alone so i have a lot of them.  But i think my best one is a Par 3 about 165 yards.  I hit a 7 iron literally inches from an ace. Had to settle for birdie.

Like the tree alone falling in the forest thing...If you make an ace and there is no one to witness it...is it really an ace?

A couple of years ago I holed a 100 yard wedge shot for my third shot on a par 5 for eagle.  Hole was blind and I searched for about 3 minutes before looking in the hole.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

I play alone (or with random strangers I get paired up with) probably 90% of the time, but a lot of my most memorable shots have come when I was playing with other people. Weird.

Mine i posted before.   I think it was about 2 months ago now.   Was playing the par 3 8th hole at Salem Country Club in Salem IL, tees moved up only playing about 110 yards with a big water hazard short of the green, hole in front.  Thats usually a 9 iron for me but i went with 8 in case I mishit it i would still clear the water.   I actually didnt hit it perfectly but landed the ball just on the front of the green, bounced and rolled to within 3 inches,  that close to a hole in one.

Played a par 3 course 2 weeks ago.  3rd hole was 156 yards uphill.  I hit an easy 6 iron and thought my shot went over the green and into the bunker behind.  As I was walking to the green the group behind me (their tee box was to the right and elevated from my green, giving them the perfect vantage point) started congratulating me.  I holed it for my first ace, and none of my regular playing partners were there, ughhh!

    • Hi everybody!  I am new to the golf game. I have taken some lessons and got fitted for clubs a couple of months ago. I usually score between 110-120 for 18 holes.  I bought a Stealth driver last year and have been hitting consistently with it 210-230 yds on the simulator. But when I take it out on the course, every drive is a severe slice!  I played 18 holes yesterday at the club where I belong. I removed the driver from my bag and used the 5 iron to drive with. I hit straight 16 out of 18 drives, 180 - 200 yds. I used the 5i - putter for the rest of my game.  I ended the day with a 92. Question: Does it make sense for me to continue playing with irons only until I get further along in my game before I reintroduce the Driver and woods again? Or should I continue to struggle with the Driver and woods and shoot in the 100’s again? To me it’s a no brainer, but for those more advanced I am interested to get feedback.
    • Thank you, currently I only had the 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 irons in the bag. I was never finding myself in a situation to use the 4 and 5 so I dropped those a while ago. The 60W is what I've been practicing with the most in the back yard, but that's only with short chipping. I don't think I've ever practiced hitting my wedges at 80% - 100% apart from yesterday. Maybe I should be doing that more. Generally I would be using a 9 iron if I was out about 75 yards or so. I am not really sure I understand your mention of the 60W and 3H. Aren't these going to be giving me completely different results? Unfortunately I am not able to adjust the loft on the hybrids I have. I looked into the Shot Scope H4 you suggested and this seems really neat and handy, however I am struggling to understand how it works. Am I correct in assuming it doesn't track the ball distance until you hit the ball a second time? Say I drive from the tee and walk up to my ball, tag the next club and hit the ball. Is it at this point when I tag my next club while standing next to my ball that is knows the distance? Thank you, I am going to give the local shop a call and check their prices and see what they can offer.
    • Do you know what their handicaps are? The handicap system isn't perfect and given the higher variance from higher handicaps, I think low handicap players would be expected to win maybe 60% of their matches? I'm not exactly sure what that number is and it will vary with the handicap difference, but if they're generally very low handicaps, then they might be at 60% likely to win a game. Given it's 16 vs 16, that's a lot of games to win. If it's 60%, then that's around an 80% chance that they'll win a given match. At 80% chance of winning, 21 wins in a row is about 1 in 108 times. Pretty unlikely, but not unheard of. It's pretty sensitive to what that individual win percentage is too. If it's 65%, then 21 wins is about 1 in 9. If it's 55%, then 21 wins is 1 in about 5,700. Clearly it's not as simple as this because that win likelihood is going to change match to match as they play lower handicap teams or higher handicap teams, but I don't think it's a "yes they're cheating" thing at all.
    • I'll be honest, the only reason the 2 iron was in my bag is because I tend to hit the ball into the tree's fairly often. And I was using it to help me keep the ball very low to get out of the tree's while avoiding getting much loft to hit branches. I guess I can drop the 3H as well. Would it be wise to give a higher loft fairway wood a try as well, something like a 26 degree? I believe there is only one golf shop where I live that has a golf simulator and trainer. I see they offer free fitting with a purchase from the fitter. I'll have to check how much they charge without a purchase, I've read a few stories about fitters on this forum that just wanted to sell the person the most expensive clubs and that kind of deters me a bit. They do offer lessons as well. I'll give them a call and ask them a bit more about these services. Thank you!
