I like Jeff Ritters teaching videos, and was playing around on his site. I saw that he has an online swing analysis for $50, of course you video your swing and send it to him, and then received feedback and instruction. Has anyone done this? What were your thoughts? Helpful? Was it a detailed analysis? Was it indepth enough or just a simple analysis... meaning I know some of the issues I have, but am having a hard time correcting... so my thoughts are does his analysis provide solutions or just a diagnosis?

Thanks in advance.

btw: I am not asking to rate his teaching or methods just simply whether you have any experience with his online swing analysis and the feedback you got from it.

$50? The owner of this site set up an online lesson thing that costs like $10 or less per video. Good for Jeff if he can get $50. That's a lot of scratch for a "lesson" that's not in person and will take the guy 15 minutes to do.

"The expert golfer has maximum time to make minimal compensations. The poorer player has minimal time to make maximum compensations." - And no, I'm not Mac. Please do not PM me about it. I just think he is a crazy MFer and we could all use a little more crazy sometimes.

Thanks for the heads up... I owe you a beer for saving me $40! How do I find the info for video analysis here... I am new so sorry if it is a dumb question.

They are talking about Evolvr, which is a service given from Golf Evolution, run by David and where Erik works.

I second Evolr.  You can work on all aspects of golf and not just the full iron or driver swing.  I just sent in a pitching video and the tips Eric gave were spot on.  I think I will be sending in a bunker video next!

Thanks. I'm a fan of "underpromise, overdeliver" so I don't want to say much about evolvr. I will say that at $40 for the first month it's probably worth trying out, because (again, underpromising...) I know the information you'll get will be worth at least $40. :-)

boogie, we were really happy to see a short game shot. Not enough people send those in, and we think we teach that really well too, so I look forward to the bunker shot videos!

  • 5 months later...

I've seen Jeff Ritters online stuff.  Check out Herman Williams as well.  Just do a google search on Herman Williams Golf (he is in Raleigh, North Carolina).  I really liked the way Herman explained things (more so than Jeff or Shawn Clement), and on a sheer reluctant gamble, I sent him my video and 50 bucks.  Well, I'll tell ya that it has transformed my swing (and my game).  He told me things that my local pro never even mentioned.  He wrote me a full and detailed prescription on what to do, videoed himself doing the drills, showed what to look for, all in addition to doing a full analysis of what I was doing, why it wouldnt work, cause and effect, etc.    I swear...It was the very best 50 bucks I've spent on anything golf related.   I love that guy!   I used to have to have a good round to break 80, and now I'm doing it all the time, even flirted with par on good putting days.   I would highly recommend him - you get 50 bucks worth out of it without a doubt.

I was very reluctant, but I'm sold on this guy.

    • Hit my tee shot just into the penalty area and barely found it. Swung hard just in case I hit it. It was slightly downhill with a heavy tailwind. I don't actually hit my 9i 170 yards.
    • Right. The difference between being 120 out and 70 out for me (this is the important part) is negligible and not worth putting other risks into play off the tee.   Ok the argument against driver is that my shot cone is comically large. It puts every possible outcome into play. You can't see the green from the tee so there's a good chance I'd have to wait for it to clear which would slow down play. That's the third tee right in the middle of the firing range there. I really don't want to wait just to hit a terrible shot and I especially don't want to injure somebody. Yea I have no problem playing out of the rough short of the bunker if I'm just going to lay up short of the bunker, but I absolutely need to avoid flaring it right into the penalty area if I'm going to be laying up in the first place. As a general strategy I understand where you're coming from. But since we're specifically talking about me (this is a shot I'm going to have to hit on Saturday), I think the cost is fairly marginal. I hit the ball 8' closer on average from 50-100 than I do from 100-150 from the fairway and rough and the green success % difference is 4%. Bunker might as well be a penalty drop. Based on the data,  Here's my SG:A data compared to a 10: I honestly don't know how to use SG for decision making. That's why I was mostly looking at proximity to hole and green success rate for comparison. I mostly use SG as a way to track my progress. All good. Like I said, I appreciate the discussion. It makes me think. If I didn't want to see alternative/opposing viewpoints to my own I just wouldn't post anything. You should post it! In your own swing thread, of course. It's been a fun exercise.
    • Played my first 2024 round at Pierce Lake. Boomed my first drive down #10 fairway, then slowly slipped into mediocrity. 83 (69.6/131). The high point was going 2 of 4 on sand saves. My sand game is pretty marginal but today I must have discovered the secret for a couple hours.
    • day 34. Technique practice. Became too quick and outcome oriented. need to slow down and work on technique again.
    • Day 534, April 18, 2024 Practice before lessons today. Priority piece. No sim this time. 🙂
