It was good. But Feherty is only good when he is interviewing or discussing with other people. When he's by himself ( ie. the intro of his show ) it sees a bit forced.

Liked the show though

I liked Trevinos quote

"It's something when people follow you when you're winning, people love winners, but when you're not winning and people follow you, it's something else"

I really enjoyed the show.  I love to listen to older folks tell stories, and Lee Trevino was SPOT ON!!!  I have always liked Feherty's banter, he just throws it out there.

I will watch, because some of his guests look intresting.

I have always thought highly of the golf coach that can take your natural swing, and tweak it to fit your golf.  I loved Trevino's anology for swing coaches talking about retooling a whole swing to fix one thing.

"...if you have a leaky roof, you dont tear down the whole house, you just fix the the leaky roof..."

I also thought it was pretty bold to say that if Tiger can not fix his collapsing knee, that he is DONE.....bold statement!

I think the premiere was a good show. Starting off with Trevino was a smart move because Trevino has a million stories and could have done the interview without him. Feherty got his feet wet, but the real test is when he gets someone who is not Lee Trevino. All in all, the show has a lot of potential and I like Feherty's out-of-the-box take on life.

I had my doubts about this show when I first heard about it but was rather impressed watching it. I was thinking it would be Feherty trying to do his bit for an hour but as it turns out was a pretty good interviewer. This is the first original series from the GC that I am interested in. Really looking forward to the Johnny Miller episode.

It was certainly a good debut.  Feherty is strong "out there character" that is very likeable.

Also, it's about time we get to see these players from a more personal and "fun" perspective.  Pro Golfers have soo many interesting stories, opinion, thoughts in their heads (mostly due to all the international travel they have to do) and Feherty is the right choice to pry that out of them!

not a fan of feherty.  he sounds scripted, like he has all these one liners that hes just waiting to pull out.  i feel the same way about rick reilly.

Rick Reilly is way worse. Feherty can sound a bit scripted every now and then, but Rick constantly talks as if reading an editor's opinion piece.

I agree w/ your take. I have DVR'd the first show. The first few shows will be good b/c this should be the best crop of guests. I'll be interested to see who the show fares once a couple dozen have been done and the list of most interesting guests has been exhausted. Then his skill will really be tested.

I liked it a lot. I think Ferehty was at his best when he was telling the story about his daughter getting him another bottle of whiskey. That was as pure as any golf shot he's ever hit I'm sure.

I watched the premier show and really enjoyed it.  Definitely going to watch the show and see how it progresses.  He was on the morning drive and made a comment that the show is a living and breathing thing, so it will be interesting as to where they take it.

I happen to like Feherty, whether his lines are scripted or not, he's good for a laugh.  I love his comparisons to completely random, off the map things in life.  Takes a lot of character to draw some of his comparisons.

Have to admit I enjoyed it. Forgot all about the "snake" I could listen to Trevino for days without getting bored.

And I think he could fix Tiger lol ,but a bigger challenge, could Lee fix my swing haha.

Feherty was pretty cool. I find him annoying and not that informative during golf broadcasts, but this I liked a great deal. A lot better than the sanitized, formulaic fare of golf broadcasts.

For those saying he seems "scripted". Of COURSE he's scripted. It's not a live show. There's obviously been a lot of attention paid by both Feherty and his producers to how Feherty will be presented. In that regard, I found the show effective and entertaining.

Guy's got a lot to say. Compared to most of the dross on The Golf Channel it's The Sopranos.

I really enjoyed it.  Lee Trevino was very interesting.  The fact that he didnt start golf seriously until his 20's, and won his first major at the age of 27... amazing and inspiring.

Saw the show tonight. Like other posters, I feel that his humor is a bit forced. He is at his best when he can come up with the spontaneous quip on a live broadcast, but this opening show was like was was trying to do stand-up and it just wasn't his voice.

What I really didn't like about the show was all the teasers of coming conversations. We must have seen 20 percent of the Trevino interview material twice. I would much rather they cut that out and devote the time to showing original content. Maybe the producers think viewers have such short attention spans that they have to be convinced to keep their hands off the remote. Who knows.

I'm not expecting a Charlie Rose-style show, but when he has such an interesting guest as Lee Trevino, whom we could spend the entire evening listening to, TGC could have made more of it than they did.

He's right about the pressure Tiger puts on his body, though. He has a young man's swing and he's not that young of a man anymore.

i liked LT's comment about putting it all on the line (every dollar you have) and seeing if you can come through....no bigger pressure

Yeah, this.  Maybe it's a Golf Channel thing?  They do the same annoying thing with Big Break, which has me just about done with THAT show.  Maybe GC assumes their primary demographic is deficient in the short-term memory department.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
