first off, i am new here, but have been reading for a bit. This year has brought on different difficulties in my golf game. Typically the best part of my game is off the tee and long irons, whereas, i tend to struggle around the green, which i know with time i will get better. This year seems to be a whole new game. As far as chipping and putting, i am playing better than i ever have. Off the tee and long irons are now my trouble. The irons i feel like i have figured the problem but cannot stop what i am doing. i am constantly topping the ball which seems to be a combo of "taking a peek" and not keeping my shoulder through the swing and pulling up. Off the tee has me frustrated though. i have always been great off the tee and long. this year i cant hit S***. i have a terrible hook, not just a major draw, but a ridiculous hook that is leaving me no more than 175-200 yards off the tee straight into the trees. not sure what i am doing but wanted to see if any of you guys have ran into any slumps in the past that could give me a few pointers to check and see if im doing the same things.

thanks in advance,

Dave

Welcome to the Sand Trap first of all...

Of course EVERY golfer goes through crazy slumps that leave you scratching your head...persistence and dedication is the key to coming out of it IMO.

It would be hard to asses problems you may be having in your swing without video, or at the very least a little more detailed description of your own assessment on your swing...but video would be the easiest way for anyone to help you out with your swing.

The War Sticks:

Driver: Adams Speedline F11 9.5* w/ Aldila Voodoo stiff flex shaft

3Wood: Adams Speedline Fast 10 15*

Hybrid: Ping G10 22*

Irons:Mizuno MP32's 3-PW (bought used for $189)

Wedges: Cleveland CG14 52*, 56*

Putter: An old Ram Laser...lol...but it works

Ball: Srixon Q-star

yeah i know there could be multiple different scenarios. i am going out for round later today so will hopefully have something to post tomorrow. It is just bizarre that i go from being consistent off the tee and with long irons and being a hack in the short game department to the complete oppossite.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.
