I know its at the extreme end of the scale. I don't think the made for OEM shafts are as common in irons as they are/ were in drivers. Even if you don't put the most expensive shafts in; a moderate shaft and grip up grade can put you in the realms of a decent OEM set on discount. The likes of the Adams sets with 2,3, or 4 hybrids in particular offer very good value if they suit you

Gigagolf is not ripping anybody off. They are providing a great club at a great price cutting out all the middle men. You have to go find Gigagolf, they don't come to you and try to sell you anything. So I'm not sure why you think they are ripping you off, you have choice, don't buy anything from them.

The major club makers you mentioned are ripping everyone off. When you have to pay $400 for a $5.00 steel shaft and a $30 golf head then shell out $29 for a $2 golf hat to advertise their products that they are handing out for free to every millionaire pro golfer on tour they are clearly ripping the consumer off. It's a scam and everyone knows it, except the criminals profiting from it.

Gigagolf are not clones, they make their own clubs, and high quality custom fit clubs at that. I've owned two sets and now trying the forged irons. They custom fit thier clubs with a no question asked 30 day money back guarantee. Try getting that when you buy your $1200 set down at your local pro or sporting good store for off the shelf run of the mill one size fits all golf clubs.

I bought a driver from Gigagolf, and I didn't like the sound it made, called them up, got a RA# and sent it back with a full refund.

So whil you go bad mouth a company that provides a great service and really nice clubs that are custom fit with your choice of shafts, length, lie that play every bit as well if not better than any other off the shelf rip off golf club I'll keep enjoying a great club at a great price and play as well if not better than most of my golf buddies playing their $1200 sets.

Nobody knows who you are talking to-Quote please. And try not to take opinions so personally.

Haha, yeah, that diatribe came out of nowhere and may as well have been addressed "To Whom It May Concern"

If you are looking at buying their clubs I would strongly urge you to spend 5 minutes to read the entire review.

Unlike most people who have left reviews I actually went to a professional club fitter that has a Trackman radar system. The Trackman is a $20,000 dual radar system that is used by almost all PGA tour pros. It tracks every possible aspect of your swing from the plane, angle of attack, ball speed, spin, club head speed, ect... Here are the actual results which you can view at the link below.

All shots were done with a 7 iron. I tested the Mizuno JPX, Ping le1, Nike Vapor, Callaway XR, and Cobra Fly Z. If you would just like a summary you can proceed to the 2 points below.

https://trackmanfilesus.blob.core.windows.net/publicfiles/96a8d2cb-ff88-412f-9715-579603ae5a75/Sterling%20Suhr%202015-07-25%20Multi%20Group%20Report.pdf

1.) Ball Speed - On average the Gigajunk had a 9% low ball speed. Why is this so important you might ask...keep reading.

2.) Carry Distance - On average with the name brand clubs I had an average carry of 167 yards with the 7 irons. With the Gigajunk irons I had an average carry of ONLY 146 yards! That is a 21 yards less carry with a 7 iron! Ask yourself this...would you rather take a 7 iron into the green or a 5 iron? I think you get the point.

The next point is for all of those who think they will just try the clubs and then send them back under the "30 Day Play Guarantee". I got the "return merchandise" email from Gigagolf on July 31st of 2015. I then sent the clubs back which they confirmed they received them via email and via audio recording, of which I have both.

After a month had passed I emailed them to say I did not get the refund. They said they would send it out right away. I never received it so I emailed them 2 months later. They have continued to say they would send it but never have. It has now been 7 months and still no refund.

I have tried 2 sets of their clubs on the Trackman and both sets of clubs performed just as poorly. ALL of their clubs are terrible and I would highly recommend avoiding them. For only $100 more you can get a name brand set that will blow them away.

For Gigagolf....you can send the refund or I can continue to post these reviews on every possible location I can find. I could really care less about the money but I do care about companies ripping off consumers. While $300 doesn't really mean anything to me, I don't want to see you screw someone who can't afford to lose it on an inferior product.

Looking at the Trackman report you also had the worst attack angle and face to path numbers so a lot of that is coming from your swing.

You realize that not every 7 iron has the same lofts, yes? Typically OEMs like Callaway and TaylorMade will crank lofts on a 7 iron down to as low as 27°. Most of GigaGolf’s stuff is traditionally loft (around 35° on a 7 iron)  OEMs are banking on you testing the club and seeing that this newfangled 7 iron goes much further than whatever your playing.

But you need to take into account the loft on your old club or any club you test against. I can make any club I want to and stamp a 7 at the bottom. What matters is how the club performs at 35 degrees of loft. So that 7 iron you hit from GigaGolf is likely higher lofted than even the 8 irons of those other sets.

Yeah that’s not really how it works. You’re leaving out some important facts. New technology has allowed for improved distance and ball flight parameters. To get a 7i to still behave like a 7i, they have to adjust the lofts. It’s not simply reducing the loft to make someone think they’re hitting a 7i as far as a 6i.

    • Makes sense.  Like I said, I wouldn't have been upset at their original offer either, and based on the fine print it seems like they've held up their end of the deal.
    • If you've only had to adjust retroactively one time in 8 years and have around 5 people each year without handicaps, that's like 40-50 people total so it sounds like you're doing a pretty good job. I think your questions give enough to go off of. This might be a good way to get new people to actually post a few scores during the 6 weeks leading into the first event. Something like "New members will be eligible for tournament money once they have at least 3 posted rounds in GHIN" or something like that. If they can get 3 rounds in prior to their first event, then they're eligible. If not, they'll soon become eligible after an event or two assuming they play a little bit outside of events.
    • This is a loooooong winded narrative so if you don't like long stories, move on. 😉 Our senior club typically gets about 25 new members each year. We lose about 25 members each year for various reasons (moved to FL/AZ, disabled, dead, too expensive). Of the new members, usually 20 have an active GHIN handicap. About 5 each year do not have a GHIN handicap. When they join our club, we give each member a state association membership that includes GHIN handicapping services. We play a series of handicapped tournaments over the summer. When we sign up a new member who does not have a GHIN handicap, we attempt to give them an estimated index until they have sufficient scores posted to have an actual GHIN index.  Our first event typically is around May 15 so, in theory, a new member has about 6 weeks to post a few scores. Posting season in the Mitten starts April 1. Inevitably, several of the unhandicapped individuals seem  to either not play until the first tournament or can't figure out how to enter scores (hey, they are seniors). That situation then leads to my contacting the new member and asking a series of questions: a. Did you ever have a GHIN handicap? If yes, which State and do you recall what it was? b. Do you have an alternate handicap through a non-GHIN handicap service or a league? c. What do you think your average score was last year (for 9 or 18) d. What was your best score last year? Where did you play and which tee was used? e. What do you consider a very good score for yourself? Based on their responses I attempt to give them an index that makes them competitive in the first couple events BUT does not allow them to win their flight in the first couple events. We don't want the new members to finish last and at the same time, we don't want someone with a "20" playing handicap to win the third flight with a net 57. In the event some new member did shoot a net 57, we also advise everyone that we can and will adjust handicaps retroactively when it is clear to us that a member's handicap does not accurately reflect their potential. We don't like to adjust things retroactively and in the 8 years I have chaired the Handicap Committee, we have only done it once. So here are the questions to the mob: Any ideas how to do this better? Any questions one might ask an unhandicapped individual to better estimate their index/handicap? Would it be reasonable to have a new player play once (or more?) without being eligible to place in the money?
