Driver shaft length

By cutting it down you have stiffened the shaft and will probably see a lower trajectory. After you see how it performs you could try adding lead tape to head. I do think by shortening the shaft you will find it easier to strike the middle of the club face. Good luck.

I tend to hit it high so may this will be a good thing.

That lead tape is so thin it doesn't amount to much. Do you really think a strip or two about 3" long has any effect on feel?

You'll have to look up exactly how many grams of lead tape is required to obtain the original swing weight but it's a lot more than 3 inches. Golfsmith sells it by the roll. Start with a small amount and keep adding until you like how it feels.
