About 5 years ago in a high school match when I was a senior this kid I was playing with 3 putted 3 holes in a row and then proceeded to hit his putter for every single shot for the rest of the round.  He had 7 holes remaining when this happened.

Now that's strong.

How much distance did he get with the putter off the tee? I'll have to admit that I've thought about it.

A few months back I was really struggling with my pitching from 30-70 yards.  And when I say struggling I don't mean leaving myself 20 foot putts instead of 5 foot putts, I mean I was shanking about half of them, which led to a really bad case of the yips.  Anyway I was playing a longish straight par 5.  I hit a good drive followed by a good 3 wood (which in retrospect was a mistake because I left myself the yardage I dreaded) and had about 50 yards to the green.  I walked up to my ball and I could feel the cold sweat on my forehead because I knew I could not hit this relatively simple shot.  After setting up and walking off the shot a few times and a bunch of practice swings I finally pull the trigger and sure enough, dead shank into the trees, no chance of saving par.  While holding the wedge I holstered it, letting the club head fall into my hands and then in one fluid move slammed the grip into my innocent golf bag...twice.  On the very next hole, I had a full wedge into the green and as I take it out of my bag I notice a huge dent in the shaft under the grip.  Not thinking it was a big deal I hit the shot and sure enough the shaft breaks under the grip....karma can be so fickle.

Those are the days when you stop pitching and just try little bump and run shots with a 7 iron...

There's a video of Jamie Sadlowski hitting a putter 300 yards off the deck.

I hate to admit it, but this is me about 15 years ago at Singing Hills GC in San Diego, CA (now Sycaun Resort). I was golfing with my Uncle and Dad and something irked me on my backswing and I went nuts. For some reason my father was filming me at the time. I am not proud of this moment and have never lost my temper since. I did par the hole though LOL

I only have one question: are you naturally left-handed?

Have any of you guys heard the phrase "You're not good enough to get that mad"??

I just started playing. I had a day were absolutely nothing went right and I had a talk with my self that went like that. I stopped trying so hard and had a great rest of the round. That sandwedge is never going back in my bag though.

I only drive about 180, but I make up for by not hitting my wedges well.

Yeah, I've heard that. I've even tried to convince myself of that. I've never agreed. Actually, I usually get more angry after thinking this very thought.

Once played a round with my then boss..came to a long (180 yards) par 3 with a large pond in between the tee and the green.. He hit first putting the ball ,it appeared, into the pond.... His iron was then flung into the air after the ball and that went into the lake ... My shot landed safely on the green ...When I walked to the green ... to the other side of the pond..I found a ball on the edge.... asked what he had played...Titleist Prov.2.... told him that I found his ball and his club.... the club was stuck in the mud in the middle of the lake.... The ball cost a pound   ( second hand ... cheap skate)   the lost club 150 pounds .... I could not stop laughing

I would say this is the best I've seen.

That is pretty funny! Usually when I play bad I'm just relieved it's over and draw a line under it as a bad day! I've never once thrown a club or lashed out, I guess I just kinda sulk instead.

I'm actually doing a lot better with my own temper tantrums this year. My club throw has been down-graded into a light toss. My swearing has generally been in a conversational tone and I haven't thrown any balls into hazards in quite a while.

Yeah....it's the club's fault ;-)

My best one was playing league golf match. One of the guys hit a bad shot and went off. He was hitting trees, the ground, etc. when his partner just looked at him and said "You are not good enough to get that mad". I thought about it and he is right. When you play nine holes a golf a week, don't practice and only have a 6 month season you should not be that mad about a bad shot. I use that saying to myself when I hit a bad shot and my temper starts to rise.

I said it earlier, but ... that particular line is like dumping gasoline on the fire. Great if that works for you, but it would be exactly the wrong thing to say to me.

Best one I think I ever saw was this year, back early summer.  One of our members who almost never plays, except to hit balls and watch himself hit in front of a mirror.  He does push-ups on the range, triceps dips using the only bench at the range and is just a unperson-able guy.  And he dresses and acts like he should be a pro.  I've seen him on the range and he looks like he has a decent swing.

So I was going out on the course and I caught up to him and another member on the 2nd hole.  As we played I don't think he spoke at all and he barely acknowledged if you said nice shot to him.  His on course swing was nothing like his practice range swing and he was hitting all over the place.

So...we get to the 8th hole, which is a 320 yard par 4 dogleg left, houses and OB right. He hits his first ball dead left pull into the trees about 50 yards off the tee.  He slams his club in ground and definitely used some nice language, which whatever.  So he re-tees and hits it OB right, another verbal outburst, drops another ball and keeps it in play edge of right Fairway.  Doesn't even bothers to look for first ball and he hits his next shot, shanks it right off the roof of a house and it rolls onto the back deck of the house.

Next thing is he swears really loud.  Takes his club and swings and hits his bag breaking one of the stand legs.  Bag falls over, of course and then he kicks the bag.  Realizes that he broke one of the legs, so he chucks bag and clubs over the sand trap which he was standing beside.  He walks over gets his bag, picks it up and clubs are hanging out, gets pissed again, throws the bag to the other side of the fairway.  Picks up the bag, throws it over his shoulder and walks in.

Not sure if I have ever seen that kind of an explosion before.  So we get done with 9 and I go into the pro shop and not only did he break his bag, apparently when he either swung and hit the bag with his club or when he kicked it, he broke his driver.

Not a good hole for that guy.

His new nickname is now Postal.

    • Day 12: Same as last couple days, but focus was on recentering aspect of flow. When I recenter earlier I make decent contact most swings but if I recenter late or not at all it’s a roll of the dice.
    • A couple of things.  Some of the clubs in your bag should be dropped immediately.  A 2-iron for example with what obviously seems to be a lower swing speed or possibly not great swing yet is a definite no-no.  To be hitting that 120-140 yards, which I assume includes run, is a sign that you are not getting the ball airborne at the correct angle to maximise distance.  The reason your 3 and 5 hybrid are going the same distance is that your launch angle is better with the 5.  Loft is your friend. Ideally I would suggest going to a golf or sporting store where you can hit golf balls on a simulator without being disturbed to understand your club carry distances and hopefully swing speed.  With that information we can definitely guide you better.
    • Let us be clear, unless you have proof of cheating, you just sound like a case of sour grapes.  In our club we have a guy who won club titles for many years.  Yes, he was a low single digit handicapper, but there have been quite a few others who played at his level.  Yet his mental strength and experience helped him win in many years when he shouldn't have.  Did he sandbag.  DEFINITELY NOT.  Did he just minimize his mistakes and pull out shots as and when needed.  Definitely.
    • Day 111 - Worked on my grip and higher hands in the backswing. Full swings with the PRGR.
    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
