I really like that Golfsmith swing speed chart!  Thanks for sharing.  I'm no expert on shafts but I fit the golfsmith criteria for stiff shaft.  I have played stiff shaft Ping Eye 2 irons and now stiff Pinemeadow Mark II irons.  My driver and woods have been regular shaft and I am extremely inconsistent with my driver (high and right).  Woods have a playable fade.  My irons are dead straight.

I just ordered new driver, woods, and a hybrid in stiff so we will see if this corrects my problem with regular shafts.  My driver distance and 7 iron distance fit within the stiff shaft guideline on golfsmith link. Hoping the new Nike clubs with stiff shafts help straighten me out!

While swing speed is a good general guideline, keep in mind that there isn't a standard definition of various flexes -- while they're generally in the same neighborhood, borderline cases may differ. For example, when Mizuno suggested shafts for me, I was suggested a soft-stepped stiff in two brands, but a straight-up stiff in a third (the difference in shaft weights on the suggested ones also fell into this). Furthermore, there are other factors that tend to affect the 'right' flex. Certainly, looking at swing speed with any chart is better than picking blindly ("well, Tiger uses X100s, so those must be right for me too!"). But there's more than just that in deciding the right shaft.

80-95 regular

95-110 stiff

110 and up X stiff

However I have heard of players still using stiff shafts with swing speeds well into 115mph range, there are a lot more variables into it than just shaft stiffness.

This sounds about right as a guesstimate. If you're quick, or hold lag well into the downswing, and you're between flexes, go for the stronger flex...

Depends on the golf shaft. in many cases there is no standard for flex.

Example if you go test two drivers, lets say Taylormade versus Callaway. Lets say they both use "made for" shafts. If they are both marked "stiff", they can be completely different flexes if measured.

A good point I heard once, what if a golfer swings easy. You can easily swing 10 mph less on a driver. Does the golf shaft suddenly become insignificant because now you are swinging easier for a flex that doesn't match the swing you just made?

Just saying, in the scheme of things, flex is pretty much insignificant. There are many more criteria in getting fitted than worrying about flex.
