Ha we call it swing lube. If the swing is rusty, lube it up. I love doing it on a golf course though because golf is all mental and a good bowl calms me down like nothing else does. I play my best golf slightly high. I don't drink and I don't understand why people get drunk and play golf. I was reading a golf digest from 2011 and in the "they said it" section a Nationwide tour player was quotes as saying "Players on Nationwide Tour do it all the time. Guys will do it in the port o potties. As for doing it when I'm paired with strangers, no way. Where I live pot is still illegal and criminalized and I know people might not want to be around it. So I'll smoke a cigar instead. I was once paired with a guy who snorted coke the whole time though at a nice private course here in Columbia. To each his own I say. As long as nobody gets offended

I really wouldn't care if I someone in my group did this, as long as they were discreet about it. I have one friend that smokes that I have known for 4 years. Every time I see him he's high, but I have never seen him smoke. I know he does it, but he is very discreet.

I get out to play a decent amount (more than most professionals). I just don't encounter that type of person very often.

I also want to note, as the OP, the pair I encountered were *NOT* underachievers in the standard sense, but wall street/financial types. So not your typical slacker stoner. I am on the east coast.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

I don't know why that's funny. I don't mean a stereotype - I simply mean I don't meet people who toke up on a golf course very often. I realize there's no one "stereotype" to a pot smoker, I'm just saying there are those who smoke pot occasionally and those who don't. I seem to play with the latter.

It is a drug by pretty much any definition. Heck in CA, everyone calls it a drug so they can get a prescription  so they can toke up semilegally (state level your good, feds not so much). Wether something is natural or not has pretty much zero effect on how safe it is.  Of course if being a drug doesn't mean it should be banned.  That is a different discussion.

If I had a to take a drug test for work, I might be a bit paranoid about it. If you can smell something, you are breathing in the toxins. Probably not enough to test positive but I don't know I would want to risk my career on that.

Cigarettes and alcohol should be illegal before this natural herb would be.

Anyway on a side note I was reading this thread at 4:20. :P

I haven't encountered this ever. Honestly, considering I play as a single usually and get paired up with random people, if I did encounter it I'd make up an excuse to take of ahead of them or something. It's just not something that I want to be a part of or have around me.

It is funny because it sounds fuddy duddy and somewhat judgmental. There are so many people that smoke pot from the resident dirt bags to high profile executives. I suppose you could have meant the "type of people that would smoke pot in public or in front of strangers" but you didn't ;)

It's neither of those things, and you clearly don't know what I meant. You read into my post things which were not there. I simply meant the type of person to smoke in public during a round of golf. I play golf with a fairly small number of people, and not terribly often. None of them happen to smoke pot on the golf course. Some of them might at home, I don't know. Don't care. I've had friends that smoke and covered ranges of people. I just don't happen to have run into them on the golf course.
