Anybody try theses Nunchuck shafts?

I have heard a lot of good about them, but I just can't believe that one shaft can really fit all. I mean the reviews on torontogolfnuts are amazing, and they are from long time members, but I find it hard to just drop 250$ on a shaft that nobody seems to demo, based on word of mouth that one size does really fit all.

I realise the theory behind it is sound, but then again, if it made a huge difference, why wouldn't every shaft maker build a tip like this for all their shafts?

Anyway, if anyone has any experience with them, what did you think? Is it all hocus pocus, or is there something there?

Nobody??? I pated their website below. I know they are popular on TGN, as I said, but I want to know more. Gonna bump this once, and hope for more insight.

This should keep you occupied for awhile:

http://secretinthedirt.com/index.php/forum/133-driver-golf-shafts/10941-nunchuk-driver-shaft-unique-concept

Jhonny Vegas plays them in his driver, fairway and hybrid.

Ted Potter Jr. used one in his 3 wood, and is disguised/rebranded as an Aldila VooDoo 80x shaft.

There are many pros using this shaft, but have to have them disguised to look like their sponsor's brand.  Here is an example of a couple that are branded as RBZ and R11 shafts:

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered one. Perhaps it will be worth it, we'll see. My only dilemma now is should I put it in my 3 wood or driver. I think i'll try it in my driver first.

I highly recommend signing up at the forum I posted the link to (if you aren't already).  One of the posters in that thread (Lane Holt) is very tight with the designer of the shaft (Gerry Hogan), and will respond to absolutely any question or comment you have with it.

Somewhere in the thread, a few times actually, are the designers recommendations for the best length and loft to use.  And I don't think the recommend tipping it at all, just butt trim to length.

Let us know how the purchase works out.  I'm not in the market for a $250 shaft, but that's just because I work in a business selling upscale audio gear that the iPod generation will likely never appreciate.  I'd love to have the disposable income that I used to have but the damned economy can't make up it's mind whether it's going to improve or degrade.

The shaft comes stock at my preferred length. I have a puller and everything I need to regrip, so I will probably start at stock length with my 3 wood. Im not so sure I want to replace the Aldila RIP 60 Stiff flex atm, because the club is working so well for me at the moment. My driving accuracy per round went up an average of 7% per round in the 3 rounds I played with it. Maybe it is new club magic, but I dont think so, the shaft just feels 'right'. And for a stock shaft, thats quite an accomplishment. But then,e the nunchuck may be so good, that ill want it in my driver anyway.

I may try it in my rapture, see if theres a difference there, then decided if I want to move it into my RAZR.

I have heard great things about them but I have my doubts that there can be a one size fits all shaft.  The website to me just comes off like a informercial but still would not mind giving it a whirl though.  I am looking at the Nike VRS and from what i understand nike would set one up with the nunchuck in a custom order.

Awesome. Mine is scheduled for delivery on Wednesday, along with my Edel Wedges, which had to be sent back because of a simple mistake. (And I must say, im very pleased with Edel calling the fitter to tell them they made a mistake with my shafts, and to send them back immediately. They could have left well enough alone and I would have never known the difference, as they were only 1/2 inch short and I never would have thought to measure, but they went the extra mile to make sure I got what I was fitted for). Im extremely excited about both the shaft and the wedges. The more I read about the nunchuck, the more the science behind it makes sense.

The "one size fit all" concept definitely is hard for a lot of people to grasp, but there are just too many people using them successfully to NOT give them their chance.

The tubular shaft has very limited potential due to the inherant way it is constructed. On the other hand the seven part FineOneGolf T3 'bamboo' shaft opens up far more of the shaft without any increase in bend and thereby provides around 14% more energy return than ANY tubular shaft. And, due to other special engineering techniques, unparalleled accuracy. Effectively designed and marketed on a university's very limited budget awareness is only slowly growing, but such did not stop it winning a World Longdrive title and smashing the championship's record.  I was fortunate to build that driver.

As for 'one shaft suits all' I will simply say that the T3 comes in fourteen stiffness grades, twelve of which are readily available.

Ummm, ya, thats nice and all, but we aren't long drive competitors, we are golfers.

I used mine for several rounds and it is very accurate, but I did find I had a loss of distance. At first it didn't bother me that much as I was in the middle for the most part, but I finally got tired of being 10-15 yards behind the guys that I'm normally even with. After I switched shafts I let a friend try it in his R11 and he had about the same experience. I've now moved on and in love with the new Titleist 913D with the Bassara shaft. Played 6 rounds last week with it and hit 10+ fairways every round and picked a few yards over my R11S.

I went ahead and put in my driver about November or so I have since played20+ rounds with. I am really not impressed I carry it about 235-250 but then it falls out of the sky like a dead bird. I honestly get 5 yards roll. It seems I lost 25-30 yards, and everyone I play with has commented about. I can hit my 5W that far! Any other shafts I should try?

    • And like Matt said, and I have hinted at… it's ONE ROUND. Because you have to get hot. Better players than him failed to get through. And… Peaked too soon, perhaps. He could also get injured, get surpassed, lose interest or lose his game… Again, if I trusted y'all to uphold the bet, and if the bet wasn't basically a 15-year proposition… I'd bet y'all. The odds are against him, and heavily so.
    • He shot -5 with a bogey on the last hole. Those Monday Q events are seriously tough to get through. Lots of very very good players play in those, including normally a fair few tour players who've lost their cards, including past winners. It is a small sample size, but he also just broke one of Tiger's records (youngest ever to be ranked one in AJGA if memory serves). He's the best 15 year old in the world at the moment. He's also pretty small and skinny - if he grows and fills out a bit and gets stronger, he could be a serious force to be reckoned with. He may of course also go off the boil and struggle or his swing may not last his growth or something, so it's not like he's odds on to make it or anything like that. I think it will be interesting to see how he progresses and if (big if granted) he progresses well, then he will be quite the prospect.
    • At a basic level, you can take those strokes gained numbers and if you know what the baseline strokes to hole out is from each distance, you can figure out how many strokes on average you will take to hole out from any given spot on the golf course. Then you can take that shot zone thing from shotscope and put it down there and see what the average is for each club and each target you choose. That's not exactly trivial to do though even with a computer, so the strategy guides (like LSW) use rules of thumb to make those decisions easier for you to make on the fly. Most of the time you'll come up with the optimal strategy and on the odd occasion when you don't, the strategy you come up with will be pretty darn close to optimal. If you're anything like me, then you'll probably wind up being a little too conservative with both club choice and target. Fear of penalty strokes can make you play suboptimally. Basically it's a bad idea to base your strategy on a shot that might pop up less than 1 in 20 times. If you happen to hit that shot, then today just isn't your day, but the 19 times you don't, you'll be in that much better of a spot.
    • That sounds like a small sample size issue. What if the PGA tour event he was trying to get into just happened to fit his game perfectly? Also, he could just be playing hot right now. I’ll put this in the wait-and-see category.
    • I've used a construction laser for years. Far less expensive than the PuttAim laser.
