I practice pretty quickly....but I'll always step away from the shot after hitting, re-establish my grip on the club as well as my stance so I'm practicing that as well. I try not to hit the same club more than 3-4 times in a row.

Unlimited balls, so I hit a lot and I hit them quick.

I spend about 40 minutes at the chipping green (chipping and putting on the convex green that next to nobody uses), then I walk to the driving range and hit about 200 in 45 min to an hour.

I almost always spend the first 20 minutes or so just hitting a pitching wedge or my 52 to different distances. There are four 'greens' I can aim at in the 30-120 yard range, and I try to hit each of them in succession. I usually need more than four balls to hit all four greens.

After that, I move to either a 7i or 5i (sometimes both), then a 5 wood (or sometimes 3i), and then driver.  Once I've hit all the clubs, I'll play a few 'mental' holes.

Too fast. I tend to machine-gun shots on the range. I really need to slow down.

The best tip I heard, which I really need to heed is, to practice like you're being paid by the hour & not by the job.

I hit pretty quickly - usually 20-30 minutes for a small bucket (45 balls or so?) so more than a ball a minute.   I've always approached  new athletic skills this way; I find it necessary to immediately apply the feedback I just got (e.g. where the ball went) and tweak to adjust before I forget the motion as well as to repeat the parts that I may have just tweaked that seemed to work. Usually after I acquire some level of automatic motion, I'll slow down and get a bit more cerebral about parts of it, but for now I'm so early in the golf thing that I just need to keep hitting and develop a feel for how my movements/changes affect the ball flight.

I spend usually 1.5-2hrs to hit 130 balls.  I start off with wedges and skip a club all the way up through the bag, hitting 3-5 balls with each.  I always do my normal pre-shot routine with every shot.

If I have something specific to work on I'll then do that for as long as I need.  Then I usually do a ladder through my bag.  I will hit driver, wedge, driver, PW, driver, 9i, etc. all the way through the bag and then back down again.  When I get to the longer clubs (3i and up) I'll slip a chip or pitch in before going back to the driver.

All the ranges around me use limited flight balls so I found trying to 'play' holes didn't really work very well.  One range the balls are so short my driver only flies about 220yds.  Kinda hard to practice your normal round without your normal distances.

When I was working mostly on making contact, I would hit through a 100 ball bucket in just under an hour.  Now, when I go to the range I'm working on things like distance control, aiming, draws, fades, etc, etc so I take around an hour to hit a 50 ball bucket.  I haven't been to the range in a while, though - too hot.

I went out today and hit 110 balls in about an hour. I didn't think about mechanics, just about feel. Probably the best ball-striking day of the year. Very different from my normal approach, but I had a blast.

I usually hit 60 balls (medium bucket) in about 1 h 20 min.

For every shot, I will pick out a target line, line it up as if I am on a course, and swing.

I do this for every single shot, so it takes me a lot longer than some of the people that I see who just hit, hit, hit, until they run out of balls.

I always step back and pick out a target for every single shot.

Way too fast. When I'm by myself I'll take my time for the most part, but a lot of the time at the range I'm with buddies. We will start out slow but it soon turns into a long drive contest lol.

I choose specific golf drills that help me improve. I will work on a specific drill for approximately 10 minutes, then I move on to another drill.

I practice with a purpose and I go to the range to have fun.

I spend an hour on the range.

    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
