41F and windy (10-15 today).  Not as bad as I expected.  It was sunny though.  Tomorrow is colder, but I may not have a chance.  The only hard part was when teeing off into the sun. I lost sight of two drives.  I was lucky to find them.

2years ago I suggested to my brother-in-law and a buddy we should play golf. It was cloudy, windy and 21 degrees. In southern middle Tennessee, that is quite cold. On hole #4,it began to sleet and snow. We took cover under trees for 15 minutes and it passed. We continued on for the full 18 holes. We had a blast. Wehad so many clothes on we could at best muster a 3/4 swing. This, coupled with the temps, created a lot of quite long 2nd and 3rd shots. It was that day that I discovered just how essential cinnamon Jim Beam is for cold weather golf. :-)

I once played in about 35 degrees, cloudy and windy. It's called learning the hard way. That was when I instituted the 40 degree rule.

I like that rule.

I remember around I played in Denver years ago. Anyone who's spent any time in the Mile High City knows how fickle it's weather can be. When we started the round it was in the 60's and sunny. On the 18th hole it was in the 30s with white out conditions. The 18th green was now a white one. The funniest part was when we went into the pro shop the pro told us if we wanted to keep playing it was on the house. We declined.

I played 9 holes yesterday in 42 degree weather.  It wasn't too windy so it made it pretty comfortable.  No ball caps for me when the weather is like that.  I hate having cold ears so the knit hat was a must.  I have a pair of FJ winter gloves but only used the regular glove and kept the other in my pocket when riding around.  It was 38 today and I was going to go out but backed off because the winds were a little too brisk for my taste.

Man, that brought back a memory. Was playing Kennedy in SE Denver in the winter as a beginner, nice (35 ish) and sunny out. Left my nine iron by the 8th green (I think, didn't notice it lost til the back nine), figured I'd ask at the pro shop or go back for it later. Started snowing on 15, 1/2 inch of snow by the time we finished. Pro shop was closed up when we finished. Several inches more snow that night.

Good bye nine iron

PS it was a Danny Michaels signature club. Never have met anyone who knew who Danny Michaels was.

Anyone else ever lose a club in the snow? :-)

    • Eh. He broke ONE of Tiger's records. Youngest to be ranked #1 in AJGA. It didn't help that Tiger's birthday is in late December, or that Tiger didn't play many AJGA events before he was 15. Did he do any of these things? TIGER WOODS' AMATEUR VICTORIES YEAR WIN(S) 1984 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1985 10-and- under Junior World Golf Championships Boys    1988 Boy's 11-12 Junior World Golf Championships   1989 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships   1990 Boy's 13-14 Junior World Golf Championships, Insurance Youth Golf Classic   1991 U.S. Junior Amateur, Boys 15–17 Junior World Golf Championships, Orange Bowl International Junior Look at some other AJGA Players of the Year. How many of these names do you recognize? A few, for sure. I assure y'all, I'm not trying to pee in your Cheerios. I just don't get what the point is. Okay. I get that, then. Thanks.
    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
    • Just stumbled onto the article.  Totally random and thought it might be interested to hear other thoughts. maybe I am tired of all the LIV crap and  this just caught my attention.
    • Day 1: Spent some time hitting some balls. Working on my hips and a “soft” and straight trail arm.
